Since the Phaeton is dead, VW is looking for a way to further amortize their platform investment in the Panamera/A8/Continental/Flying Spur platform, so this is a no-brainer.

Expect it to sticker for 1,000,000 euros and they will go for 1,000 units per year. Heck, they can even launch a "Royale" or "Atalante" version to keep the magic alive.

Way to work that Panamera platform VW!
