#GIMS: Chinese Claim The First 1000+HP EV That Can Go 1500 Miles Between Charges
The Geneva Motor Show is the place where automakers debut new models for the mass market. It’s also a place where unknown brands showcase insane vehicles. This turbine-hybrid-electric car is an example of the latter. A little while ago, a Chinese company called Techrules claimed that it was working on an electric car that made 1,030 horsepower and could travel 1,200 miles between fill-ups. These are bold claims from an automaker that no one’s ever heard of before.

You can claim all you want. Prove it! I have difficulty believing this car shown could carry enough fuel to keep the turbine running for that many miles, regardless of how large of a battery it carries. And exactly how large of a battery can this car carry?

Big battery and huge fuel supply? Not in this chassis...

Perfect summation.

It's probably in Chinese horsepower and Chinese miles.

It's also NOT an EV.

We already have lots of cars that can go more than 1000 miles between fill up and regularly do so in the spring and the fall.

Of course - much of the time is spent on the Auto-Train to and from Florida from the Northeast.

The question - why would someone need to have over 1000 horsepower in the real world - and even go 1200 miles between fill ups. Gasoline cars have never approached that range between fill ups because they don't need to - a fill up doesn't really take much time.

Just my local driving, but my Passat tops 700 miles per tank easily. Some people, obviously with all freeway driving, have topped 1000. I think I could reach 850-900 without making much effort. And my car does it with a moderate sized tank. About 17 gallons if I recall.

When they have a working concept that meets their claims then I'll believe it. Until then, they can claim whatever they want.
