The GREAT Debate: Should BMW Take The All-New M2 One Step Further With An M2 CSL or GTS?
This year BMW is delivering BMWphiles the all-new M2. If you haven't already seen or heard, it's become the BIG star for the Bavarian brand. This is important to note as it's been pretty clear that the blue and white has become a bit softer in its older age.

With electric steering, plenty of electric nannies to save drivers, all-wheel drive and the elimination of manual gearboxes, things aren't looking good. But, as we've come to expect from BMW, the company always reminds us that it knows who it really is.

This is why phenomenal cars like the 1M and M2 come to fruition.

Having said that, there's speculation among gearheads that there is potential for an M2 CSL or GTS. As you'd expect from the both sets letters, this M2 would be lighter, boast more power and be quicker when timed.

Given that the M4 GTS is right around the corner and to be built in limited batches, should BMW do an extremely limited run of M2s in the same steed?

What say you, Spies?

They should give it a full fastback roofline, delete a lot of the technocrap, drop in a V8 and go Mustang GT hunting.

Lower the roof, remove the backseats, new nose, integrated-electromechanical wing(hate tacky drag inducing wings) water injection- M4 spec engine with better tuning- 500+ hp. Get the car under 3K pounds. Go 911 hunting.

The car you're looking for already exists. It's called the Cayman GT4.

I loved BMWs. Drove a 135i for 4 years and I loved that car and yearned for a 1M. I feel like when they made the 2 series the car lost its uniqueness. I've seen my fare share of m235i cars running around and for some reason they look boy racer to me. It's like a toy. A CSL would be cool but I don't see BMWs as raw anymore like the CSL M3 of the early 2000s was or even the V8 M3.

The only problem with the Cayman is that because it's styled like a 911 caricature, it screams wannabe.
