#NYIAS: CONFIRMED! Porsche Is Releasing An All-New Macan — Will THIS SUV OWN The Luxury Market Now? NEW Pricing Announced...
So, we haven't made it a secret how much AutoSpies likes the Porsche Macan. Not only did Agent 001 call its success when he first test drove it back at the product launch, I also named it my top pick of the year after I got some wheel time.

It's a damn good product.

Not only does it deliver a sports car-like experience, it also is a great SUV when it comes to giving you a bit more room and rear cargo space. Overall, we dig the Macan's packaging. Its price, however, can get a bit steep when you start to tick those option boxes.

Though we've seen it in form of the Macan S and Macan Turbo, we're eagerly awaiting the Macan GTS. Here's the thing though: we think the volume seller has arrived. That's because Porsche just announced today that it will be unveiling a four-cylinder Macan at the 2016 New York Auto Show (NYIAS).

That means the Macan will be offered with a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine good for just over 250 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. Zero to 60 will happen in 6.1 seconds thanks to a dual-clutch, PDK gearbox — when equipped with the Sport Chrono package. According to Porsche, it will achieve city/highway mpg of 20/25 and 22 mpg combined.

Pricing has been set at $47,500*.

*This price does not include title, taxes and fees.

That said, will this all-new Macan dominate the luxury SUV game? Let us know in the comments below!

Porsche's press release follows:

PORSCHE ANNOUNCES NEW YORK AUTO SHOW LINE-UP

North American debut of Porsche 911 R, 718 Boxster, and Macan

Atlanta, Georgia. The New York International Auto Show will be host to three North American debuts for Porsche this year. The 911 R and the 718 Boxster both represent the latest interpretation of driving pleasure and dynamics in their respective segments. The 911 R is a pure, uncompromised driving machine with a naturally-aspirated, 500 horsepower engine mounted in the rear. The 718 Boxster features extensive chassis enhancements and an all-new turbocharged, mid-mounted flat-four cylinder engine. The 718 Boxster is powered by a 2.0 liter engine developing 300 horsepower, while the 718 Boxster S utilizes a 2.5 liter powerplant making 350 horsepower. The third debut, the Macan, is driven by a sporty and highly efficient turbocharged 2.0 liter inline-four cylinder engine.

Four Macan Models Now Available
Porsche is expanding its line-up of compact SUVs with a new variant of the Macan. Following the introduction of the Macan S, Macan Turbo, and most recently the Macan GTS models, the four-cylinder turbocharged engine in this model is tailored for use in the sports car of the SUV segment. As is characteristic for all Porsche models, the Macan is capable of converting its engine power into impressive driving dynamics using the standard active all-wheel drive with Porsche Traction Management PTM, as well as the agile suspension and precise steering. Air suspension with load-leveling control and the PASM system with adaptive dampers are optionally available. Weighing only 3,902 pounds, the Macan is the lightest SUV made by Porsche, which translates into particularly agile handling.

Sporty turbocharged four-cylinder
The new inline-four engine is designed to be sporty and efficient. It operates with up to 14 PSI of boost pressure, charge-air cooling, direct injection, and variable valve timing. VarioCam Plus adapts the intake and exhaust camshaft continually and also controls the lift of the exhaust valves. Thanks to 252 hp from 5,000 to 6,800 rpm and 273 pound-feet of torque available between 1,600 rpm and 4,500 rpm, overtaking maneuvers are completed confidently.

Like all other Macan models, the turbocharged 2.0 liter engine in the Macan is connected to a standard seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission featuring Auto Start Stop technology. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is completed in 6.1 sec with the optional Sport Chrono Package featuring Launch Control. Top track speed is 142 mph. In terms of fuel consumption, the new Macan proves to be particularly efficient with an estimated improvement of up to 18 percent compared to the Macan S. Fuel economy values from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency are 25 miles per gallon on the highway, 20 mpg in the city, and 22 mpg combined.

Extensive level of standard equipment
Visually and in terms in of equipment, there is little that separates the new Macan from the rest of the family. Distinguishing exterior characteristics are matte black window surrounds and brake calipers in black, while the unique dual exhaust pipes are finished in stainless steel. The front fascia and lava black side blades match the Macan S. The Macan comes standard with Bi-Xenon™ headlights, 8-way power front seats, seat centers in Alcantara®, the newest generation of Porsche Communication Management (PCM), Piano Black interior package, and a lane departure warning system.

The 2017 Macan is available to order now with deliveries expected in July 2016. The Macan starts at $47,500, excluding delivery, processing, and handling fee of $1,050.

I gotta say, I positively LOVE the current 2016 Macan, inside and out! Even the entry-level S. I test drove one and walked away thoroughly impressed.

Even so, I don't believe it, or the next Macan, will "own" the luxury SUV market. I found the inside a little small (I'm used to a Q5). Also note that Porsche owns a tiny segment of the luxury SUV market share, being outsold by Mercedes, BMW, Audi, and Lexus. It's hard to claim "owning" a market segment under those conditions, no matter how good the vehicle is.

It's not "all new". It's just getting a new engine option.

It's an all-new model variant.

I know you like to get hung up on the language but, seriously, kiss a girl.

Its nice but a bit overpriced. For the same money, if you are disciplined with the options and engine, you could get a Cayenne.

Porsche Tiguan. When is the Bentley version coming out?

The $47K price sounds plausible until you want any options and cha ching cha ching up goes the price. Why are people spending so much on this Porchaudi?

Yes, it is definitely pricey. Premium cars usually are. However, I'd have to say that it's priced appropriately for what it is.

Yes, the price tag can skyrocket with options. I did my dream configuration, and the options added 44% onto the base price! That's surprising. On the other hand, Porsche lets you configure your car "à la carte", so you can get everything you want, without being forced into taking stuff you don't want, which is common with vehicle manufacturer's "packaged" options, or where you have to step up to the next trim level (for thousands of dollars) before a specific option is available. When I was getting my Audi Q5, I wanted the radar-controlled cruise control, but it was available only in the top trim level, included a sunroof plus overpriced and crappy factory navigation system I didn't want, if I wanted the nice cruise control. I did without :-(

Agent00R,

Ever time I read your articles on new vehicles, I can't help but believe you abuse your drugs. Such hyperbole! I'm sorry but your over-the-top raving gets old. How about some insight (I assume you have some) into the vehicles, rather than the ravings of an adolescent.
