#NYIAS? SPIED! The All-New Audi R8 Spyder Is Caught Completely NAKED Before Its Public Unveiling — Verdict?
This week I am with Audi in southern California driving the all-new, 2017 Audi A4. There is much to say about Audi's all-new entry-level luxury vehicle but I have to say there's some real excitement going on with the four rings.

That's because the all-new R8 Spyder just got leaked and we're seeing the whole enchilada. Literally, it was caught completely nude.

Zero camouflage. Zippo. Nada.

Painted a shade we definitely never saw the last-generation R8 in, a bright yellow, it is a color we haven't seen on an Audi since I think the Imola Yellow B8 S4. It's an exceedingly bold choice but it really works on the drop top R8. Call me crazy but I like it.

And. AND! I think it works with the second-generation's much maligned design.

As of now there's no word where the Audi supercar will debut but given this factory car — note the plates have "IN" for Ingolstadt and "R8" in them — was caught completely out in the open in Germany, I think it's safe to say this car is bound for the 2016 New York Auto Show (NYIAS).

Ugly little tub.

Specs aside, visually, it looks like the Audi TT's sibling, rather than a Lamborghini's little brother or cousin. I don't think that's a good thing.

Come on! This is a sweet ride! If you don't think so, you're dead inside.

runninglogan1: Your "sweet ride" comment is right on the money with respect to specs and track performance. But I and some others are talking about its styling, and suboptimal styling can be a curse. For example, lots of people can't get past Cadillac's exterior styling (which doesn't say premium car or luxury, or arguably handsome), and therefore, they won't discover what a "sweet ride" it is.

I've never "gotten" the love for the R8. It's not attractive in the least. A 911 or a Stingray will kill it for the same or less money and look better on top of it. Driving an R8 says "I can't afford a real Lamborghini but I'll drive the wannabe Audi Fiero version and tell people it's based on a Lamborghini."

Lamborghinis tend to be driven by douche bags. Hate to say it, but true. Not so with the R8. Also, the new R8 will destroy any Stingray performance wise, including the Z06. Just check performance stats from ANY source you like.

Audi R8s are driven by douchebags who cannot afford the Lamborghini level of douchebaggery. Both the 911 and the Stingray will kill the terrible R8.

Back it up troll. Show me some stats. You won't come up with sh*t. Stingray doesn't kill the R8 just because your mommy says so.

not attractive for an Audi "super car".

Yeah... no. Audi designers should be ashamed of themselves for making $180k+ look so inexpensive and uninteresting. But they've been at it for a while, diluting their high-end cars' appeal by making the entry level ones look the exact same with slightly smaller dimensions.

I think I would rather have just about any other supercar on the market over the Audi.

Too simple for the money...yet every sell will hurt the NSX the most, as both compete in the uninteresting supercar-wannabe category, but at least Audi is on its second generation car already...

Audi should be aiming at the Corvette for better sales.
