NYIAS: TEASED! Subaru Gives Us A Glimpse Of The All-New Impreza — New York Or BUST!
Although it seems a bit premature for Subaru to debut an all-new Impreza, according to the niche Japanese manufacturer, it's time. The 2016 New York Auto Show (NYIAS) will be the launching point for the 2017 Impreza.

According to Subaru we'll be seeing an all-new vehicle on the inside and out. Considering the teaser image it shared with the media appears to depict a not too drastically changed Impreza we're a bit skeptical.

We'll see.

More good news: Not only will the Impreza come in a sedan offering, it will also be available as a five-door hatchback. You can hear all the utilitarians rejoicing already.

For now there aren't any more details so just hang tight. We're expecting an all-new or updated boxer four-cylinder to make an appearance. As usual, more power and better fuel efficiency will be the significant changes there.

Subaru's press release follows:

For now it looks a bit like the concept. Matt, the photo is misleading if it makes you think the front looks especially bad -- it should be a mild improvement (but still similar to) current Subi front fascias.

As always, the concept looked pretty great for the car class. However, Subaru pretty much never delivers on most of what the concept promises in terms of design. But at least I felt like the concept was pointing in a good direction.

If Subaru actually followed through on their concept designs more fully, they probably wouldn't be able to keep up with demand at all, so maybe it makes sense to stay a little on the ugly side for now, haha. The new platform may help.

Hopefully this will look closer to the concept, either of the last two concepts.

Hopefully the car has not grown too big and they make sure to give plenty of time to the five-door.
