Is THIS The Best News We've Heard From An Automaker This Year? Update On Porsche Mission E...
Probably one of the coolest concept vehicles we've seen in recent memory was the Porsche Mission E that debuted at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). Not only did it look like the bees knees, it also featured some groundbreaking electric vehicle technology.

Simply put, if what Porsche is telling us can be made into reality, we'll have one seriously game changing vehicle.

Well, it turns out that Porsche's CEO, Oliver Blume, is confirming that much of what we've seen — as well were told — will come to fruition. However, there will be challenges.

In a conversation with the BBC's Top Gear, this is what he had to say. Mind you these are excerpts:

...The Porsche Mission E will be very like the show car, promised Porsche CEO Oliver Blume. “The external design will be very similar. We have to fulfill certain conditions and change some things.” So it won’t have clap-hands doors? “That’s a hard problem, but our idea is to do something very close.”

And the awesome performance and range figures of the concept are targets for the production car. “It’s not easy but we will do 500km range and a 15-minute charge. We have the technical ability to do it, the hard part is doing it on a whole vehicle.”

“And it’s important to transfer all the driving emotion of a Porsche to the electric vehicle,” he says. “We can’t do an electric vehicle that’s branded Porsche if it doesn’t fulfill what a customer expects from a Porsche. You can drive the 918 Spyder in EV mode, and that’s how it will be to drive the Mission E. It transfers what we learn from motorsport..."

Given these snippets, are you as pumped as we are about this vehicle? Let us refresh your memory with Agent 001's snaps from the Geneva show.

The face desperately needs a rethink. It's ugly. The rest is very attractive.

I disagree.

I find the 918-inspired face to be pretty killer.

So you like the face and find the rest ugly?

Agree with MDarringer. Face is ugly. Wheels are silly looking. Someone at Porsche is trying way too hard.

I hate to admit it but I agree with Darringer. The front end is ugly.

I like the car overall, from just about every angle. There are better-looking cars out there, but none promising the kind of tech that is in this one. It'll be interesting to see what design changes it does get, to accommodate regulations and so forth.

About freaking time; hopefully it's a big check because this car is expensive.

Whatever it ends up looking like, the show is the proposed 500km electric range and amazing 15 minute charge time. If people bought the fugly Panamera in record numbers, I am sure there will be a long line up for this model. It should look good once it hits production.

I like it. Including the front end. The guys above who dissed it must have very bad taste.
