Volkswagen Whistleblower Sues After Being Fired For Trying To Stop #Dieselgate Coverup

A  whistleblower has sued Volkswagen AG, alleging that he was fired after trying to stop the company deleting evidence relevant to U.S. authorities’ investigations into excess emissions by its cars.

The news is the latest evidence of less than wholehearted cooperation by Germany’s largest automaker with the authorities, and as such may have a bearing on the final size of the financial penalties imposed on it.

Things are beginning to get ugly...VW is eating its own! This firing further reinforces that the Germanic ideology of shut up and follow orders is alive and well at VW. Its only going to get worse as the bunker mentality becomes pervasive throughout the entire company. The daily chit chat around the cooler talk will be "Who will be fired next? What do I do if I see someone destroying evidence? Is my job safe? Is my pension safe? I heard another round of firings is coming? I heard (fill in the blank) is next to be fired? etc etc"

The owner of the local VW/Audi/Porsche dealer used to own a number of dealers, but he decided he wanted to relax and coast toward retirement so he divested of quite a lot of his holdings. Now with the crap at VW getting worse by the second, he is diversifying like mad. He would sell his franchise, but no one wants a VW/Audi/Porsche dealer these days largely because of having to sell VWs.

The long-term solution--I think--is to drop VW from the US market and then diversify and broaden Audi.
