Fashionably Late To The Party? Infiniti's Twice Axed Eau Rouge Is Still Being Considered For Production
It’s been nearly four years since Johan de Nysschen swooped into Infiniti and unveiled grand plans to transform the brand into a Tier-1 luxury player.

That plan isn’t dead, just deferred, an Infiniti executive tells WardsAuto.

They need a competitor in the segment, but they need to build not one, but two: coupe and sedan.

Infiniti needs to be smarter than Lexus. Any entrant into the luxury performance arena of the M3/M4 must be able to outperform the German, and the competition like the ATS-V or C63, in most areas. Being comparable, like the IS-F, is not good enough.

This go-stop-go-stop vignette is a sign of a company unsure of its strategy, brand values and future direction. When companies take this approach it damages the image of the car before its even produced...its old news versus being something fresh and new. Best to dump this concept and start with a clean piece of paper.

im sorry, but the Q50 with its $350 per month leases will not be able to make people want to pay 80+k for this version with crap body kits.
they need to create the essence concept, not this trash !

At this point they may as well just let it die. It was a great opportunity but that train is already leaving the station. The Q50 design is already in its third year, nobody is going to be lining up to dish out the kind of money that Infiniti would want for this car.

They should just make their 400hp S and try again next generation.
