BMW To Have Three More i Models To Spice Up The EV Market

In 2018, the i8 will get a droptop sibling, called i8 Roadster, a version of which was revealed at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas back in January as the BMW i Vision Future Interaction concept (pictured).

No details have been confirmed but sources say it will closely reflect the i8 Roadster concept first revealed in 2012, and most recently seen as a doorless version at CES.

Following the success of the i8 coupe, the i8 Roadster was an inevitable next step. Its engine and performance figures are sure to echo the coupe, which uses a three-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol engine alongside the electric motor. It has 357bhp, a 0-62mph time of 4.4sec and a top speed of 155mph.

took a test drive in an i8 today, couldnt believe how good this car is. probably because i didnt have high expectations. it doesnt feel ferocious like an M car but its still amazing speed, comfortable ride, very good handling and really has great presence on the road. The ONLY real issue with this car is if youre a little on the big/ tall side- it isnt comfortable getting in and out.
my cousin liked this i8 so much, hes picking one up next week.

Yeah I really like the i8. I wonder whether it turns into a maintenance nightmare at any point the way lots of imports do past their warranty period. It's not a practical vehicle so it can't be your "main" car the way a Model S or X would be, but it does look like it's from the future.
