At Under $200,000 Is Acura's NSX The Bargain Of The Century Or Just A Placeholder In The Segment?

You want a rear-engine, super sports car for less than $200,000. But all your buddies at the club have Porsche Turbos, so you want something different.

Not Lamborghini Huracan different. You’re a modest Midwest dude after all — not a leather pants-wearing, lemon tart-dating, valet-park-my-supercar-in-front-of-the-Townsend celebrity. But still a car that’s wicked quick so you can take it to local track days. Mid-Ohio, Waterford, Gingerman. But you don’t want a stiff McLaren 570S with a carbon-fiber tub that’ll destroy tracks and then destroy your backside on the trip home.

If it was $60,000, I'd say jump on it (assuming you can get past its looks).

As it is, the new NSX isn't appealing to me in any way... but I'm sure it has its admirers.

It should be priced in the mid-$100's; slightly higher than a well-equipped 911, maybe a little more than a BMW i8, and maybe a little less than an Audi R8.

$200,000 is too much.

Acura should co-launch an Integra Type-R hot hatch (they could call it the ISX Type R and simply re-badge the Euro Civic Type R) alongside the NSX to provide "sports bookends" to Acura's model range. The ISX should be a screamer!

No how no way. At this lofty price point there are cars with better heritage and panache not to mention performance. First year sales will satisfy pent up demand for NSX fanatics and then sales will likely fall off a cliff. All major enthusiast magazines have panned this car. You never want to spend big bucks like this and have to answer some pimple faced gas jockey who says "Didn't (name of magazine) say this was a piece of s**t/"

I drive a Q5 diesel, and even though Dieselgate rages, I couldn't care less about what some "pimple faced gas jockey" thinks about my ride. Or anyone else, for that matter. I only care that I'm happy with my choice.

I hope other drivers choose their ride according to what they like and want, and not according to what others might think of them. A sure recipe for unhappiness, is to seek happiness by trying to make others think well of you.

I would have loved to sees something more "pure" like the original NSX...but the new one is quite an achievement in its own right, make no mistake....

The last NSX was hardly brilliant at the track. It was easily eclipsed by car costing 50% less. I guess the new NSX is true to form.

Like the Lexus LFA, this will be pointless in elevating Acura. The gap between the Acura Accord (RLX) and the Acura Fiero (NSX) is is just too large.

It's the same shit, just a different day and they're out of toilet paper.

Certain folks feel so threatened by this car's potential success that they feel better about themselves and sleep better at night by posting their same, repetitive, negative comments about the car. I've seen nothing but positives reviews, both published and video, of the car, but with obvious criticisms. I expect the criticisms because Acura isn't trying to be like any other sports car, to which they should be applauded. Clearly, within this car itself, Acura proved it could easily build a car that would go toe to toe with 95% of the supercars out there. Put it in Track Mode, fit it with the Michelin Pilot Cups, and it's right there with the best. But Acura CHOSE not to take that route, by intent, just like they chose to take a different route with the original NSX.

I like it but completely agree that it is over priced. Coming in under $100k would have helped a lot. That said, the value of this car is how it might help the lagging Acura brand in the next few years. Everyone thought the Lexus LFA was overpriced (and it was), but it served as a great halo car for the brand and many of its style cues have trickled down to virtually every product and made them more desirable, edgy and younger. Acura needs to emulate this ASAP or they're dead.

Cut the price by $125K and you have the true value of the Honda Fiero.

I believe that this segment is an IT car segment and flows with the tide to the newest competition. AS a result - Honda gets a small window - and then gets replaced with the next big thing.

i personally really like everything about the car. looks, performance numbers all that junk.
i dont think the price is justified though. the last one cost like 80-90k no ? this car should have been priced at least within 25% of that range ( nissan gtr , amg gt, i8 territory ) anything over 125k for this car is just too much.
140k MAXIMUM .

FYI: I just customize it on the Acura's Website with most of the luxury accessories and it is below 188,000$...in my opinion...it worth it.

true believer pays full price...

Bold prediction: Shelby Mustang GT350R, Camaro ZL1, Corvette Z06, Porsche 911, and Jaguar F-Type will kills this ugly Fiero at the track.

Let me at it with a Sagaris. I'll kill the drag queen NSX.

NSX = emperor's new clothes
