#NYIAS: World EXCLUSIVE — First REAL-LIFE Photos Of The Lincoln Navigator Concept That Will Leave Cadillac SLEEPLESS In Manhattan
Last night Agent 001 and I attended a Lincoln pre-show dinner. It was the first event of the week and we were a bit curious as to what we'd be seeing. It seemed as though nothing was going on.

Then we heard rumblings that Lincoln had an all-new product to show. We got excited.

2016 New York Auto Show

**SEE the BEST, Real-Life Lincoln Navigator Concept INTERIOR pictures here!

But, honestly, nothing prepared us for what we saw. That's because Ford's luxury division dropped an all-new Navigator Concept on us. And, boy, it just shows why our love for the Blue Oval is strong. This company doesn't know how to play it safe — they're always swinging for the fences.

We like that.

When you compare THIS to what General Motors is bringing to the table, it's not even a contest. In fact, we're thinking that the folks over at Cadillac and Johan de Nysschen will NOT be getting much sleep after seeing these shots. Lincoln has RAISED the bar with the Navigator Concept significantly.

All that said, we have to ask: Does GM have the STONES to beat it?

Spies, discuss! Let us know what you think of Lincoln's all-new concept, below.

This thing screams Range Rover profile, but with more bling for the tasteless ballers

Those wheels make me dizzy.

I happen to like the "turbine" style wheels.

Would be a pain in the ass to clean. LOL!

My knuckles hurt just thinking about cleaning them. Anything more than 5 spokes is such a pain.

All in all I like it and would love to see it in production form. Lose the doors and the wheels and they've got a winner. There's a lot of Rover in the styling. The grill is working better in black chrome and I like the light up Lincoln Cross.
Thumbs up.

IMHO, the doors will never make production.

Yes, there's a HUGE amount of Land Rover Range Rover inspiration here.

The doors have absolutely no chance for production - and I would not want them. With ALL of that open space - the chassis is not going to be all that rigid - and after a couple of years - will turn out worse than the min-vans do with their huge doors - which love to rattle and shake.

I predict a lot of Tesla Model X bashers will all of a sudden like Falcon Doors now that Ford is doing it.

FYI, Falcon Doors are proprietary to Tesla.

These are Gullwing doors.

Thanks for playing.

Give it regular doors and change nothing else and you'll have a wonderful new Navigator. The Mrs. wants an Escalade. I wonder if this will sway her. I happen to think this is quite wonderful looking actually.

This site is so anti GM and Cadillac. "Does Cadillac have the stones to beat it?" The Escalade is selling briskly - they outsell the Navigator at greater than 4 - 1 despite having an average transaction price about $12,000 higher). This is a concept and as the Bentley, I mean Continental showed, the production version is much less impressive than the concept.

Also, why is Ford following the Granada strategy of making their cars look like cheaper copies of more expensive brands?

TruthyTruthy - 3/23/2016 1:17:58 PM

By the time this barge hits the market with its 2.3 liter turbo the Escalade will be due for a refresh.

The new Expedition/Navigator is not that far from production.

How do you know? I heard this about the Bentley - oops - Continental. However, subtle changes such as the greenhouse being slightly raised with less rake and fender changes that made the hood look shorter had the overall effect of having the proportions of the current Taurus. The production interior likewise looks far more pedestrian after they changes all those chrome pieces to black plastic.

this is why the title of this article is so ridiculous.

How would I know? I can't possibly imagine. Dealers were told that the new Expedition/Navigator would trail the F150--on which they are heavily based--by about two years. Those two years are nearly up.

An SUV with a STAIR CASE? Who knew the public wanted to climb steps to get into their ostentatious SUV? It's another way to get up in the world!

I wonder which car maker will be the first to offer an escalator for the really rich & lazy?

MDarringer - I was not referring to how soon it would roll out, but to how close it would be to the concept. The Continental will launch about 18 months after the concept bowed in NY last year. Following this schedule, the Lincoln Range Rover will be a 2018 model year launch. By this time the Caddy will be 3 years old and refreshed, oh and it has a V-8 and 10 speed auto. I am sure it will continue to dominate this class.

The 10 speed auto is a GM/Ford design and the F150 is getting it the same time GM is rolling it out. It is my understanding that the Continental will not be 18 months from concept to on-sale.

It will roll out in October. This is 18 - 19 months After its debut as a concept at the 2015 NY Auto Show.

PS you do know that the "Continental" was delayed because Ford had planned Taurus and MKS replacements, then they fired Max Wolff, killed the Taurus and started from scratch on the Continental, whereas the Navigator has benefitted from the new design language being hammered out before it was designed, right? Or are you totally out of the loop?

TruthyTruthy - 3/24/2016 3:29:44 PM
+1 Boost
Ford still has Taurus replacement in the works also based on the same stretched Fusion platform as this Continental. Showing a "concept" 12 - 18 months before launch is fairly standard practice.
What "loop" are you in?

What new design language? Range Rover knock off with Bentley grill. They could have sketched this out in 10 minutes. It looks nice - especially as Range Rovers are overpriced - but a luxury maker has to be original.

I'm just glad I built my new garage with a 22 foot ceiling so I can park this thing in there and still have room to open the doors.
