#NYIAS: The Toyota Prius Prime IMPROVES The Prius' Styling But Is This NEW Variant Doing ANYTHING For You?
So, let's cut to the chase. The all-new Toyota Prius is not exactly the best looking car in the automotive space right now. While its front end is actually pretty nice and spunky, when you get to its ass end it sort of falls to pieces.
Just ask anyone with eyeballs. It definitely is an acquired taste.

That said, it seems that Toyota may have gotten an indication of this early on. Why else would it differentiate the plug-in hybrid model and make its styling
improved
? Is it trying to upsell buyers to the plug-in hybrid?
At the 2016 New York Auto Show (NYIAS) we were introduced to the Prius Prime and all signs point to this being the one you would want should you take a walk on the green side. Having said that, we were a bit curious, Spies:
Is the Prius Prime doing ANYTHING for you and your taste buds?

Personally, I think the new Prius design is fine. It wants to stand out from the crowd, and it does. The new Prius Prime looks good too, in my opinion. It is still one of the few models that I'm consider for our family next car and these two designs do not change that.

I think it's the most hideous, discordant, confusing, uncomfortable design I've ever seen in my life. It actually makes the '98 Fiat Multipla seem perfectly reasonable.

Really, seriously, and deeply unattractive. I'm shaking my head that anyone at Toyota would feel this is a good design.

Once again creating a signature design for the Prius brand. You need to take into account the wide-angle shots distort and exaggerate the real proportions. I would give Toyota designers credit for their original design elements beyond the generic pill shapes of other aero designs. The rear corner contours and lights are exceptional details.
