#NYIAS: Why Have 8 When You Can Have 12? The All-New BMW M760i
The BMW 7-Series has been out for a little bit of time now, and while we have a 740i and 750i, BMWphiles know that there has been a missing V12 variant. That's where the M760i comes into play.
Equipped with a V12 motor, the M760i is the hopped up version of the 7-Series as it features some M Sport goodies.

Much like the Alpina B7, the M760i makes 600 horsepower and features BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive system. If you want a taste of the good life, you've got to see what awaits buyers of the M760i.
Agent 001 got up close and personal with the all-new BMW. Check out the photos below and let us know what you think of the V12 7.

Sorry, I know I keep coming back to this point when it comes to the 7 Series, but does BMW really have almost zero creativity when it comes to designing cabins? Everything in the front passenger compartment is no different than a 3/4 Series with just fancier materials and greater tech. If the current S-Class didn't exist, or even the A8, this might look okay, but the reality is it doesn't measure up. And that light on the rear door looks more of a gimmick than functional or mood-enhancing.

What? You didn't notice the "cellphone on a stick" shifter? Are you gonna tell me that's not creative?

That's the worst shifter BMW has ever come up with. It literally feels like some chintzy, hollow Chinese crap plastic in your hand. Not to mention it's confusing as all get out. Of course, I'll take that over Mercedes misguided left-right automatic shifter.

There is something about the almost turbine like response of a decent 12 cylinder engine that no V-8 approaches. My First experience was with a Jaguar XJ12 - decades ago - and that one still resonates with me - it was so much better than anything else. Once you have experienced it - and you are looking to a Luxury Motor Car - you will hate going back.

I think it is fair to say that BMW has lost its way. Mercedes did market research to determine that the people who bought THEIR cars - wanted more luxury - and a less punishing ride - and so Mercedes split their lines into the Luxury segments - leaving AMG for the sporty - and that turned out to be the right thing to do. However - BMW is attempting to emulate Mercedes - when in fact what they need to do is market research to determine what the people who buy THEIR cars really want. I would suspect that their buyers will skew more to the sporty than Mercedes customers did. (Noting that they sell far more small sedans than anything else). However - BMW has not decided whether the 7 series should be a Luxury car or a sport sedan - and as a result it has ended up as neither. THe fact is - BMW probably should not even be in the big sedan business - leave that for Rolls Royce.

I think they have that same interior design for the last 15 years... now just with more baubles.
