Chevrolet Recalls 3,000 2016 Malibu For New Takata Airbag Shrapnel Risk
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is recalling about 3,100 2016 Chevrolet Malibus for faulty side-impact air bags in the seats that can break apart.

The agency said the defective air bags, supplied by Japanese auto part manufacturer Takata, have two weld studs that mount the front and rear side-impact air bags. Those studs can break and separate from the bag during deployment.

“Fractured weld studs may allow the side air bag to move out of position during deployment, increasing the risk of injury,” the agency said in a recall notice posted on its website on Friday.

One would think GM would have resolved an issue like this on a 2016 car given what we know about Takata.

When snooty Honda dealers don't come off list, selling Malibus and Fusions at or near list is EASY.
