If Acura Sliced And Diced You A Roadster Version Of The NSX, Would You Be One Of the First In Line?

The Japanese automaker has gifted its fans with a new generation of the celebrated NSX sports car and as such the attention of digital artists is a natural occurrence.

The design exercise today proposes the open top version of the NSX, with the Roadster being a very stylish transformation that still keeps many of the coupe’s elements untouched. While there are numerous styling links, the NSX Roadster in the digital artists’ view should also come with different side scoops and a new design for the entire back, which has made room for a power retractable soft top. All elements here are “functional” and we can see the renders also have the much needed, safety-related rollover hoops tucked behind the seats.

I loved the original NSX when it first came out. Nothing about this one appeals to me. I'm not sure whether that's because my tastes have changed, or whether the NSX II is that much less "interesting" (inspiring? attractive? sexy?). For example, the rear end shown on this page could easily be mistaken for a Pontiac design, a Fiero II perhaps.

How much more weight will implementing a folding rooftop add to the roadster? The coupe already weighs about 3800 lbs!

First they have already said that they are building a convertible, so it's not hypothetical. And second, the fact of the matter is that this car is reaching the market so late that it has lost an competitive advantage: how would seriously consider this car over a BMW i8, a Mercedes AMG GT, or even the imminent Lexus LC500?

Nope. At this price, I'd rather have a real exotic.

The rear end looks incredibly sleek and stunning! The front portion also looks snazzy from the side. No doubt that Honda’s digital artists have carved it to perfection! Read it elsewhere that it will hit the road with a super high-powered V6 motor under its hood capable of generating a massive torque and horsepower to propel this roadster from 0 to 60 mph in just 3 seconds! But I wonder if it can really keep the turbulence and buffeting under control at high speeds, else the hassle of mounting a wind blocker like windblox may become inevitable.
