The All-New Lincoln Continental Is Helping The Company REBIRTH Itself — Significant Interest
While Tesla's all-new Model 3 hasn't even been show in production form, the company's all-new entry-level luxury product has over one quarter million hand raisers. It's truly something special we're seeing here.

The all-new Lincoln Continental has gone from a concept and been shown in production form and it has netted 40,000 hand raisers.

Obviously that number seems to be dwarfed by Tesla's news, but you have to put it in perspective: Tesla is as hot as ever, and frankly, LIncoln's brand has been pretty much...dead.

The Continental is supposed to be the company's reawakening but if you ask Agent 001 and I we'd say the real test of this will be when the company drops the all-new Navigator in production trim.

Lincoln already has a list of 40,000 people who have expressed interest in buying the upcoming Continental, and brand executives on Saturday said they plan to start working with dealers soon to help turn those leads into reservations ahead of the sedan’s arrival this fall.

“We’ll have extensive prelaunch activities,” Matt VanDyke, director of global Lincoln, told Automotive News after today's make meeting at the NADA convention.

The retired community has money. Lots of it. Ford understands that their job is to get the money out of the retiree's pocket and into theirs. That is what Ford stockholders want them to do. They aren't trying to sell this car to you, but they know that retirees are unlikely to buy a car that you like.

Actually, there is also a lot of interest in the 45-60-year-old range too.

The difference between the Tesla Model 3 and Lincoln Continental's orders is that with Tesla you're looking at a 5-7 year build out to address pre-orders making people wait a L O N G time whereas the Lincoln will satisfy all its pre-order customers quickly because Ford is a competent manufacturer.

Ford has been very communicative with dealers and is quite intent on getting the Continentals built to the custom order demands of interested customers.

I actually think there will be more buyers than allotment with the Continental and that Lincoln will make sure there is a waiting period--but not too long--so that the Continental transacts at or above list rather than 15-20% below list like the MKZ.

You've got your check from Ford, you can take the skirt off, put the pom-poms and Ford lube away now. Lincoln is a dead brand.

Big difference between us - - - I just hate you, as does everyone else on this website as well as your wife and father in law. You on the other hand hate African Americans(every thing is "Getto" to you), women (best when barefoot and pregnant), Hispanics, Asians, Muslims, successful people and all especially Democrats. So yes, you have me beat in one single area - - - your capacity to hate.

And on subject, you told us the exact same thing when the updated Navigator was released, yet it has been a sales disaster. Your failure to understand the car market after claiming to employed in the industry is troubling.

You should seek therapy to look into why you devote so much time, energy, and passion into your hatred of me, which--ironically--makes you no better than what you exaggerate me to be.

You may wish to tell your therapist that you suffer from psychological projection. Would you like the exact pages from the DSM V?

Lincoln has been much smarter with the Continental than Cadillac has been with the CT6. Lincoln has used the initial hype to its advantage, and is keeping the car in the spotlight. Cadillac gave a sneak peak of the CT6, then it seemed to have disappeared until the production version was introduced.

That being said, I do wonder how many of the 40k interested parties convert to actual sales. The production version of the Continental doesn't seem to possess that sense of occasion that the concept did, though it's still more appealing than the CT6.

Similar to the 2005 Chrysler 300C, the luster of the new Continental will soon diminish & be seen as nothing but a regular Ford product once the model becomes too mainstream & commonplace.

Of the deposits we have, most are within the 45-60 range. People over 60 tend to what crossovers for the higher vantage point while driving, which is precisely why the Continental is NOT aimed at the 60+ crowd as the bigots here like to spew.

Gm should hire this VanDyke guy to promote the Buick Avista and Avenir. If the Continental has 40K "potential buyers", Buick should have ten million real buyers if these cars are built.

On second thought, if built they are not going to look anything like the concept cars anyway so don't bother.

Most of these comments are plain stupid. There are plenty of folks who want a great looking, quiet, luxurious car with a powertrain that makes sense, vs a sport sedan. I'm hoping the CT6 is going to be that car, but its not what I'd call gorgeous. The Avenir and Continental are seriously beautiful cars... The Lincoln will find a lot of homes I think.

I cannot tell if Lincoln copied the Chrysler or the Jaguar to end up with this distasteful polyglot sedan of little appeal.
