There’s no stopping Porsche
Porsche seems to be moving from strength to strength. The company has exceeded its sales estimates for the 2006/2006 business year and has achieved a new personal best in terms of revenue, sales, and profits. Revenue has grown 10.6 percent, up to 7.27 billion euros. Most of this success was due to the increasing popularity of the 911 and introductions of new models including the Cayman.

Total production for the period was 102,602, a growth of 12.8 percent over the previous year. Further, Porsche expects sales to increase for next year due to the launch of even more models and the exploration into more diverse markets. Work is well underway to increase sales in regions such as Russia, China, and the Middle East.

Porsche has been criticized in recent times for losing its exclusivity and introducing models that aren’t in line with the company’s core values. Porsche has been considered by some to be a generic brand for sport cars and that the company itself has lost the passion that made it what it is today.

I don't believe Porsche is losing much respect. They are attracting a younger audience and infusing their company with much needed cash. 10 years ago they were on the brink of extinction.

As the only remaining independent sports car manufacturer in the world, it only makes business sense that Porsche had to expand its madel range in order to remain profitable and independent. The continued and consistant long term growth in profits and sales are commendable and with yearly sales now at 100,000 +/- this remains a drop in the bucket in comparison to the industry as a whole. Congratulations Porsche!

tifosi- Porsche has sourced parts from VW for decades. That is why they are buying stock interest in VW, it is called self preservation. Look at 914, 924, 944, and even parts of the 928 were just a few of VW sourced vehicles.

Porsche Ube Alles!

People are forgetting where Porsche comes from - VW! They were born of the same man. Porsche has never been as exclusive as say Ferrari. Thats fine with me because it makes the little beasts affordable for more people. I think they have the formula down and its working.

You want it just expensive enough that its not a Corvette and cheaper than a Ferrari with the same performance. For those in the know a Boxster is faster than a Ferrari Enzo in the slalom.

Porsche and VW have had their butts sewn together since the beginning of time. This is not new. They have been engineering pals for DECADES. This is not new.

People's car indeed!

A major part of the sale is coming from the Cayenne.
Does this indicate something?

JUGNU-

Actually, the Cayenne has seen a decline in sales over the past year, but that is partly true. However, the Cayenne is quite a stupid car. At first I hated it, then I liked it, and now I hate it again. So, so ugly, and surprisingly cheap interior.

911 is a different story, though. It's just as beautiful as it was thirty years ago, and the Cayman is very tempting, too. Excited to see the Panamera, but there's no way in hell that it will be as gorgeous as the Quattroporte.

tincanman-

Thank you!

Did anybody here realize that Ferdinand Porsche was the designer of the original VW Beetle, the first people's car?

And people here have to admit, VW is the world's most advanced entry-level carmaker, technologically and engineering-wise. They've propelled Bentley, Bugatti (!), Porsche, Audi and SEAT back into the spotlight, and Audi has done the same with Lambo. (Skoda, not so much)

For some maybe but for the multi-billionaire who wants to show off his wealth a Porsche is not enough.
