Why are they nominating him? Elon Musk is a "one-car" entrepreneur, no different than John DeLorean, Malcolm Bricklin, that Panoz guy from Georgia, and the Koeniggsegg guy from Sweden or the Pagani guy from Argentina/Italy. I nominate the Pagani guy. At least John DeLorean's car was featured in an iconic movie!

Hype aside, Elon Musk has rolled out the Tesla Model S, that's it. The rebodied electric Lotus Elise was cute, but the Model S is quite a nice, niche, vehicle and for the right customer, its great.

Question to you SPIES - have ANY of you see a Model X actual running on the roads near you, in actual use? I live in NYC and the Hamptons. I have been to Palm Beach, Miami, Greenwich, and Beverly Hills since October when the Model X was launched and the only Model X I have EVER seen (outide of YouTube) was on a flatbed truck on the Long Island Expressway (presumably broken).

Does the Model X EXIST in the real world? I have not been to the Bay Area or Silicon valley - maybe they are all delivered there, so they are close to the Tesla Mother Ship when they need repair.

Don't get me started on the Model 3. I doubt it will EVER appear in the flesh if the Model X problems are any indication.

Tesla is a one-product company at this point. I can see the death spiral coming soon!

001/00R - can you add a "Model X" page to your site, where users can post photos of ACTUAL Model X's that your members see on ACTUAL PULBIC roads? I'm convinced the vehicle does not really exist.

You have to consider South African born Musk's string of companies; PayPal, Solar City, SpaceX and Tesla. Face it he can work the economic system very well. Paypal was a major contribution to internet purchasing, SolarCity using derivative financing to enable home solar installations, etc. Plus in a worldwide survey of the millennial generation they cited three people they admire; Gandhi, Pope Francis and Musk in that order, so he has his admirers.

This is a car site so Tesla is our viewpoint. He's shown he can do the economics well so far, but can he translate that into a successful auto company is the debate. Some of us have our doubts, and only time will tell.

Looking for Model X? I'd look wherever there are lots of Model S cars. Saw lots of S's in Seattle a few months ago. Made sense as lots of wealthy high tech people and incentives galore; Fed subsidy, state subsidy, free registration and dirt cheap electricity. Around here I have seen 3 Model S vehicles in the last 2 years, all driving thru on the interstate, so I will be shocked to see an X in 2016.
