Jaguar Puts It's Biggest Cat On The Prowl: Can The F-Pace Tame The Germans?
The crossover market is growing faster than any other, with manufacturers offering niches within niches to satisfy buyers wanting something a little different. It’s a wonder, then, that it has taken Jaguar so long to make its first foray into this highly competitive sector. But the Jaguar F-Pace is finally here, so does it deliver?

In terms of size, the Jaguar sits between  the BMW X3 and X5, although engineers will freely admit that the Porsche Macan was a benchmark for the car’s dynamic ability. Jaguar also claims this new SUV  can take on the larger Cayenne in terms of space and everyday practicality.

Give them 2 to 3 years to work the bugs out, but it looks good.

It will sell well initially as the NKOTB option for people who want the latest sensation.

Jaguar (1) desperately needs this to sell well given how terrible their sales volume is in the USA and (2) they need to figure ways to keep the F-Pace current.

If they are smart, they will speed up the cadence of when this gets face lifted and replaced. If they keep the styling updated regularly, they have a chance at momentum.

Bold prediction: The F-Pace will outsell the rest of the current line up by 2:1 easily.

Bold prediction: The XE will be a lukewarm hit at best.

Jaguar's total volume last year in the USA was under 15K units. That's deathbed bad. As for the stunningly bad XJ, the dopey Hyundai Equus sold nearly as well. The F Type is not a significant model for volume largely because of it market placement.

The F-Pace should be able to sell 30K units IF IF IF Jaguar can keep the price under control--a feat it is stunningly bad at doing--, do heavy marketing, sweetheart leases, and cater to the customers.

The F Pace has to demonstrate that Jaguars are not unreliable from the get go and that is a major challenge.

This is the car that can potentially put Jaguar securely on the map.It is a viable alternative to the Porsche Macan offering handling, styling and room advantages over the Porsche.

Agreed. It definitely looks better than the competition. It should have a shot.
