Years ago when Mercedes-Benz debuted the CLS-Class it was a gamechanger. Not only because, at first, it didn't seem to make sense, but also because it was a staggeringly good looking German product.
It didn't boast one hint of being teutonic. It had swooping lines and a sensual shape that demanded attention. In other words, we loved it.
Though the second-gen product is an admirable effort, it falls short of the first-gen car that was
special. Seems that we're not the only ones who noticed as there's word on the street that the three-pointed star is working on a four-door S-Class coupe.
Is this a genius idea?
According to sources, we will not see a four-door S-Class coupe with this generation. We'll have to wait until the all-new S arrives. That means a four-door coupe variant is not to be expected until 2020.
The name for this all-new Benz? The SEC-Class.
