SPIED: All-New Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cab Spotted — Should Benz Do A Hard Top?
Since the launch at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS), the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been getting quite a bit of attention. There's good reason for that: This market is large and the current-gen E-Class has a pretty good bite of the share.

It looks like with an all-new BMW 5-Series on the horizon the battle of sales volume is going to continue to heat up between BMW and Mercedes-Benz. BMW sure will have its work cut out for itself because the all-new Mercedes-AMG E43 is boss.

I spent time in and around it at the 2016 New York Auto Show and it's a gem. Assuming it drives as killer as all the latest-gen three-pointed stars, it will be the benchmark.

That said, now that the E-Class sedan has debuted as well as one of the all-new AMG models, we're going to start seeing the other all-new variants. That would include the all-new E-Class Cabriolet.

Seen here in all-new spy photos, the Mercedes is wrapped head-to-toe. If you look at these great shots closely though, it's evident it too will inherit the all-new Mercedes' design language. That means some swooping lines and what appears to be a rag top.

That said, this has us wondering: As Mercedes is arguably the best implementer of hard-top convertibles, should the company make the all-new E-Class a hard top? Not only would this differentiate it from the competition, it would also help further distance it from the C-Class Cabriolet, which will feature a soft top.

MB's new E class intermediate (in all its variant body types) is going to be the monster sales champion for the company. It combines traditional Mercedes luxury with appealing style, presence and latest technological innovations that the public lusts for.
The new E class is the E vitamin for a win-win scenario for buyers and Mercedes.

Just keep stretching the C platform. A good car, but I'll wait and see on the new E. Unfortunately this new E, equipped the way it ought to be, P1, Multimedia and a real leather interior will be $70K minimum everything is extra on a Merc. So, if I'm not mistaken 90% of Mercedes sedans are leased, 90% of convertibles & Sports cars are purchased. Looks like sedans are moving closer to 95% with these cars... pricing and content are getting too far out of whack. Also charging for all the electronic parking and driving gizmos, what % of buyers spring for these things? I'll bet its less than 20%?
