Infiniti Teases New Crossover Vision Ahead Of Beijing Auto Show
Infiniti aims to tap China’s booming demand for crossovers with a sporty concept at this month’s Beijing auto show that previews the look of its future utility vehicles.

The QX Sport Inspiration explores the brand’s vision for a next-generation midsize crossover, the company said in a press release today. The concept gets SUV-like proportions with a wide, muscular stance drawing from the Q60 Concept.

Floating A-pillars and extra-wide wheel arches add emotional appeal.

“The QX Sport Inspiration expresses a power and purpose that is uniquely Infiniti,” Alfonso Albaisa, executive design director for Nissan Motor Co.’s luxury brand, said in the statement. “With a flowing, natural aesthetic, this concept demonstrates how Infiniti can offer something new and exciting with future QX SUV models.”

That one shot reminds me of Toyota's overly-stylized scoops and loops. In my anything but humble opinion, Infiniti needs a styling make-over, and not in the direction of Toyota/Lexus.

I have already posted agreement to your statement that Infiniti needs a style make-over. After years of destroying the brand by bringing Japanese re-badged Nissans over here - (Infinti was not a brand in Japan until 2013) - their offering show promise dynamically - but simply are too comic book looking. What they need is a more elegant style - but that does not work in Japan though.

Start timeless--not trendy--styling that is pure of form with simplicity in its lines.

Move to names.

Dangan = FWD/AWD coupesedan aimed at the CLA make it 10% larger but 15% less expensive.

Skyline = Q50 replacement aimed at 3 Series make it 10% larger but 15% less expensive.

GTR re-branded as an Infiniti and aimed at the GT350, ZL1, and Stingray

Zen = electric coupesedan aimed at Tesla S

Fold in obligatory RWD/AWD crossovers with names, but do not do any platform sharing with lesser Nissans. Have the crossovers do the heavy lifting for competing for E Class and S Class dollars rather than sedans.

@MDarringer--no offense but holy crap your post is hard to follow. Why would Infiniti go back to using names anyway?

I'll reserve judgement until after it's revealed. So far looks very promising.

Infiniti has always been in the toilet for sales relative to its target market. Infiniti needs to think differently.

Infiniti has never used names so they can't "go back" to using names.

They had one confusing alphanumeric scheme that De Nysschen replaced with another and NEITHER of them worked.

With every premium or near-premium brand using alphanumeric vomit to name their cars, after BMW and Mercedes, the rest get lost in a sea of letters and numbers.

Names--as Continental is showing--allow a car to stand out and seem different and new.

The new Cadillac is a CT6 and the response has been a total yawn coupled with amnesia.

Names are the ticket to Infiniti standing out.

They also really need to look at their product line and abandon trying to match BMW and Mercedes. Instead they need to figure out which premium products they can produce to stand out.
