SPIED On The STREET: FIRST Listen Of The Upcoming Mercedes-AMG GLC63 — And There's A SURPRISE Under The Hood!
When I was at the 2016 New York Auto Show (NYIAS) this year, I was mighty impressed with one stand in particular. That was Mercedes-Benz's booth. As usual it was in the far corner in between the likes of Lexus and BMW.

The big debuts for the show came in form of Mercedes-AMG's all-new 43s. That would include the C43 Coupe, E43 sedan and GLC43 sport-utility vehicle. Sure, the C63 S Convertible came out but for whatever reason it didn't get me too fired up.

I was all about the GLC43.

I was having a conversation with the German product manager of the GLC and when I asked him about the possibility of a GLC63 he never said yes. BUT, he never said it was off the table. He sort of dodged the question and gave a smirk.

Well, now we can confirm with certainty that this vehicle has been given the green light. That's because there's all-new video of the V8-powered GLC.

It may be short but it's very clear there's a V8 mill under the hood. Expect similar tuning as seen in the C63 and C63 S models. In other words 469 and 503 horsepower, respectively.

**LISTEN to the upcoming GLC63 for the FIRST time, below!

This is stale news. it was announced awhile back, with AMG boss even confirming that the GLC63 will have the underpinnings of the E class, instead of the c class, as was expected

Well, the last update I saw was that there would be no GLC63, only the GLC43. So, this is good new. However, Mercedes doesn't do AMG SUVs as well as they AMG sedans, with the exception of the GLA45 AMG. Hopefully, this will change that.

I test drove the ML63 and Cayenne Turbo around 5-6 years ago, and found the ML63 handling far inferior to the Cayenne. Let's hope AMG can do a better job now with the GLC63.
The current gen Cayenne (and upcoming gen 3) has lost a lot of weight from gen 1 so the bar has been raised. I also drove the V6 Cayenne loaner last week. It handled pretty good around the bends and in lane change maneuvers, I would guess the Cayenne GTS/Turbo is much better.

Yep, exactly what I stated above. Seems that Mercedes tends to calibrate their AMG SUVs for a more compliant ride and I'm not sure that's going to change as the feedback is identical on the GLE63 Coupe. At the same time, maybe they're selling well that way, which is why the new GLE63 Coupe still follows the same formula.
