OFFICIAL: Pricing Is Announced For The 2017 Subaru WRX And WRX STI — STILL One Of The "Cheap" Performance Deals?

OFFICIAL: Pricing Is Announced For The 2017 Subaru WRX And WRX STI — STILL One Of The
Say what you will about Subaru, but the company does three things really, really well.

1) It builds affordable, family-oriented products;

2) Subaru products are built to last; and,

3) When it wants to, Subaru can build performance-oriented vehicles at good value.

It's no wonder why the Impreza WRX and WRX STI have long been favorite of the tuning crowd as well as those who want to put a smile on their face on the cheap. For the 2017 model year, Subaru has officially released its pricing information.

If you want to get behind the wheel of the WRX, get ready to plop down $26,695*. If you want to go a bit nuttier with the WRX STI, you will drop at least $35,195*.

*These prices do NOT include title, taxes and fees.

The WRX comes equipped with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder good for nearly 270 horsepower while the  WRX STI gets a slight bump at 305 horsepower. Generation-to-generation the car has become more mature with a better ride and, overall, more refinement from previous-gen WRX vehicles. Though it's not as raw as the last-gen vehicles, it still is tough to beat when you start talking dollars and cents.

If you're interested in putting in an order, we suggest you RUN, don't walk, to your local Subaru dealer. WRX and WRX STI models are notoriously in short supply and likely you'll have to put in an order to acquire one.

That said, scope out the available price list below.

Subaru has successfully moved itself away from entry-level/mainstream to becoming a near-premium brand to occupy the space between mainstream (Toyota) and premium (Lexus).

I think Acura should be scared. Toyota could easily "use" Subaru to battle Acura which are essentially Japanese Mercurys.

At this point MDarringer, why is Acura still around? Honda has good build quality and interiors. Heck the cars are better looking. What is the point of the brand? Honda could make a Super AWD AWS Accord Sedan or Coupe that could steal thunder from Infiniti and Lexus, and be cheaper. Honda also to me is a better brand. Acuras are just overpriced Hondas with worse styling.
