Apple Hires Former Telsa VP And Aston Martin Chief Engineer To Lead Special Vehicle Program
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has an affectionate nickname for Apple: The ‘Tesla Graveyard‘. “They have hired people we’ve fired,” Musk said. “We always jokingly call Apple the ‘Tesla Graveyard.’ If you don’t make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple”. He made the comment after being asked about the so-called “poaching war” between the automaker and the consumer electronic giant following the start of Apple’s electric car program: ‘Project Titan‘.

We follow who’s coming and who’s going at Tesla pretty closely here at Electrek and it’s clear that the two companies share a lot of former colleagues. Tesla’s senior engineering staff and leadership are full of former Apple directors and VPs, while the Cupertino-based company hired quite a few former Tesla engineers, but rarely any senior leadership… until now.

In my not-so-humble view, bashing the competition does not look good on Musk or Tesla. Let yourself shine on your own merits, rather than by trying to knock someone else down.

With me looking at it - the people are going from a company that has NEVER made a profit - to one that has been profitable for decades and has LOTS of cash on hand. That is really hard to knock!

Apple is run by idiots if they think building an iCar is the move. Better move would be to create an engineering alliance with a real car company rather than rejects from Tesla (Google Dale and Liz Carmichael) and Aston Martin that has ZERO expertise engineering EVs.

Apple is run by idiots? You're not the sharpest tool in the shed, are you? Definitely a tool though.

@runniunglogan1 Pay attention to what I said: "Apple is run by idiots if they think building an iCar is the move." I did not say Apple was run by idiots. Pay attention. There was a conditional clause that you edited out for your unintelligent little spew.

Yes I know you swear allegiance to Tesla every morning and wish fervently to bear Elon Musk's love child, but at least pay attention to what people say.

Laying out money to design and build a car would cost much more than developing say a new Cadillac EV with Apple and Cadillac collaborating.

Apple becoming an engineering partner has far greater potential for profit--with much lower risk--than building its own cars. Porsche does engineering for other and THAT is the model that Apple should follow.

They ARE building a car. Without partners. Tool.
