Porsche Prepares 960 Nameplate For Next Supercar

Stay sharp, Ferrari, McLaren and Lamborghini: group tests are potentially going to get a whole lot more interesting in 2019, following the launch of new Porsche 960.

Yes, it looks like Porsche is still working on a new mid-engined supercar that will rival the likes of the 488 GTB, 650S and Huracan.

The long-overdue ‘960’, which is expected to cost around £200,000, will fill the blank in Porsche’s line-up between the 911 Turbo S and the flagship 918 Spyder

While Porsche makes interesting sports cars - they are not really in the same mix as Ferrari, Lambo, or especially McClaren - for a basic reason - Porsche sells lots of cars in comparison - so they are not as exclusive. At certain levels - exclusivity trumps.

I disagree. Porsche super cars are built in limited quantities and quickly climb in value. The 959 (now $1M), GT1 (good luck finding one - now ~$3M+), Carrera GT (now ~$800K) and now the 918 Spyder (fastest production car on the ring) are all special cars that are exclusive, drivable on a daily basis and desirable for collectors.

Ferrari is no longer as exclusive as you may think, last year they sold almost 8,000 cars.

Porsche should not be going into super/hypercar territory because VWAG has Lamborghini and Bugatti for that. Porsche should be expanding it's $35-50K offerings and going for volume.

Porsche simply does not have the cache of Lamborghini et. al.

This is German arrogance in play...YET AGAIN

....and again the entire production will be snapped by 918 owners who will promptly put them back for sale at $200k premium.
