VIDEO: How Do YOU Like Me Now? The All-New Porsche 718 Cayman Gives Us ANOTHER Sound Check
One of the more disappointing happenings in the automotive community in 2016 was the switch of the Porsche Boxster's six-cylinder motor to a four-cylinder. There's no question that the all-new powerplant is an improvement.

When it comes down to it though, what's more important? A more powerful and fuel efficient engine OR one that may be a little bit behind the times that makes you feel something?

Personally, I choose the latter. I know I am not alone.

So far, Porsche has been keeping its all-new four-banger Boxer relatively quiet. This is strange because the boys and girls from Stuttgart usually love releasing sound clips of its upcoming or newly released models.

Well, it turns out that with the release of the all-new 718 Cayman the company has some video and sound for us to check out. Give it a listen, below, and let us know what you think of it in the comments.

Is this engine an aural STUD or DUD?

At first glance: sporty. At second glance: blown away. Be one of the first to watch the 718 Cayman in motion in this video.

Well we really don't know how good it sounds in the Cayman. But I suspect that the same criticism of these engines in the Cayman will be as they are with the Boxster. Sounding a lot like a Subaru WRX at idle and cruising with no improvement as you rev it out. It will be the same monotone noise. The power and performance will be impressive but this is all about plenty of low end torque and little incentive to rev this engine. I can't imagine it will sound any better a closed coupe then a convertible.

Attractive car, but I don't care for the four-banger. Maybe they can pipe in nicer engine sounds into the cabin [/sarcasm].
