Is Mazda Making A BIG Mistake? Should The US Team Claw Back The CX-4 For American Consumers?
In recent months we've seen quite a bit of hubbub over an all-new Mazda sport-utility vehicle. Called the CX-4, it is a slinkier version of the very popular CX-5 SUV here in the US.

Launched at the Beijing Motor Show, the CX-4 is a rather tidy looking vehicle. But, as with some mysteries of the automotive world, Mazda has decided NOT to ship it to the US market.

But, why? We assume this is where a company-issued statement would say something along the lines of "Well, there isn't a business case for it," would surface.

If you look at SUV sales these days though they're going up, up and up. This is because consumers WANT them. Badly. Mazda's CX-5 has been immensely popular and while it is a nice looking product in its own respect, clearly Mazda is capable of improving upon that .

So, we have to ask: Is Mazda making a BIG mistake by NOT bringing the all-new CX-4 to the States? This could be the poor man's BMW X4, Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class Coupe or even the rumored Audi Q4!

What say you, Spies?

Mazda is crazy if they don't sell it here. I could see these moving off the dealers lots quite quickly… nice looking SUV.

This reminds me of the Lexus NX minus the ugly crazy Lexus grille. If Lexus can still sell the NX, I'm sure that Mazda would do fine with this CUV in the US.

CX4 has sales volume and profit written all over it.

Mazda can teach other automakers to make interiors tech savvy, user friendly and great to look at. The materials are consistently better than many "entry level" premium brands.

Why "poor man's BMW X4"?... The X4 is ugly as hell, I would buy this Mazda over the BMW even if they were priced the same!

If you remove the badge, it is hard to tell if it is Mazda or Infiniti.

I think Mazda’s two main problems are: The zoom-zoom campaign is tired and honestly not deserving of the nicest (if not classiest) cars coming out of Japan these days. The second problem is that they don't have enough product. The fact that they won’t bring the CX-4, build a Mazda 4 (sedan), offer again a V6 for the Mazda 6, and even venture on a Mazda 7 or 8, shows how afraid they are to grow. And that’s a pity.
If the problem is lack of cash, I only wished Toyota bought them and made of Mazda something to park in between the Toyota lineup and Lexus, which is honestly where I consider their cars to be.
But that's just my own wishful thinking.
