SPIED: So, VW Canned The 400 HP Golf BUT It May Be Able To Save Face With The GTI Clubsport S
As the owner of a highly modified Volkswagen Golf, I have to say that these cars are surprisingly capable when modified correctly. It seems that VW corporate also knows this.

While we've been pretty spoiled with the super quick, all-wheel drive Golf R, it seems that the company has decided to go a bit nuttier. You can dash your hopes of a 400 horsepower Golf. That shouldn't come as much of a surprise given that encroaches on Audi territory. This is where another idea comes into play.

That would be a 300 horsepower plus Golf GTI Clubsport S.

Think of it as the application of principles from the Porsche 911 GT3, just in a front-wheel drive hatchback. In other words, it will get more power, an all-new suspension setup, a louder exhaust, go on a diet, benefit from a big brake kit and get shod with larger wheels and tires.

If this still doesn't sound too appealing to you, then you've got to check out the latest spy shots. This little pocket rocket looks pretty killer.

The problem with VW is that they do not remember the Rabbit GTI. Granted, by today's standards it's not that fast, but what comes through is its utter simplicity and basic nature. The GTI is far from that. Today we have an over-optioned pricey thing rather than the honest machine the first GTi was. A friend has a pristine Rabbit GTI and it's quite a load of fun.
