Kia Sportage 101: EVERYTHING Kia Wants YOU To Know About Its All-New 2017 Sportage

Kia Sportage 101: EVERYTHING Kia Wants YOU To Know About Its All-New 2017 Sportage
It wasn’t too long ago that I found myself traversing San Diego’s not-too-well-known back country that’s located to the east of San Diego proper. There I was, going through mountain ranges, spotting cattle and wondering what the hell I got myself into.

And my passenger was getting car sick. You know what they say, right? “Slow and steady wins the race.” Not the case this go ‘round.

2017 Kia Sportage

Before my epic voyage though the company made sure to brief every single one of the attendees about the Korean automaker’s latest product, the 2017 Kia Sportage. While I like to share as much of my knowledge about a product in the review, the reality is that many of the neat little details and features my slip through the cracks. Or, I am more focused on actually driving and experiencing the product as I am trying to get a first impression rather than complain about it the cupholders NOT being able to hold a 60 ounce Big Gulp.

That said, we’re continuing our 101 series from launch events. These are slides that Kia presented to all media attendees at the launch event, so, there’s plenty of good content here that may change your thoughts about the all-new Sportage if you’ve been on the fence.

Check out the presentation, below!

MDarringer must be getting a hard-on. This thing is going to make him millions. Heck, it may even take customers away from Lincoln and Hyundai.

I know you want me, but I'm married. It's always sad when you have to tell a bottom "no". Poor cow.

The Sportage is an average seller, but it is woefully eclipsed by the leaders of the segment for sales. It's not a bad vehicle, but the leaders of the segment are better for the same money. The Sportage will have good build quality, durability, and reliability, but I'd take an Escape in a heartbeat over this.

Does anyone else see a Porsche SUV with a cartoon mouth?

Actually - it looks a lot like the small "retro" cars now in Europe - like the Fiat 500 and Mini and Adam. But the front - from some angles - does seem to have an old Porsche look.

I was oddly smitten with the previous version. It had unique, eye-catching styling. This one, I'm not feeling it.

This is essentially the previous version with a new nose. It will be interesting to see if the frog face sells better. The previous face looked more upscale.
