TEASED! Mercedes-AMG Gives Us A TASTE Of The All-New E43 BUT There's One Thing That's A Bit...PECULIAR
At the 2016 New York Auto Show (NYIAS) there were two all-new vehicles I saw for the first time that really made an impression on me. Honestly, I think these two may have been my favorites at the show.

That would be the all-new Mercedes-AMG E43 and GLC43.

It's tough for me to imagine any vehicle having a competitor that's nearly as well trimmed, equipped with an excellent motor and will feature killer driving dynamics. Everything Mercedes is doing right now just seems to be...perfect.

So when I saw that an all-new teaser video for the E43 went live, I knew I had to share it with you.

There's just one thing. It seems like whoever did this clip dubbed in the wrong engine note. That's because it sounds like a V8, which is impossible for a bi-turbo six-cylinder engine. Could the all-new mill from the three-pointed star sound this rumbly or is this an epic fail?

With the new Mercedes-AMG E 43 4MATIC, Mercedes-AMG presents its first high-performance variant of the new E-Class. More information about the new Mercedes-AMG E 43 4MATIC: http://amg4.me/E43-4MATIC

Yeah, I'm with you here. I watch this video on Mercedes youtube channel, and I am 100% sure that sound is not coming from a V6. It is definitely a V8 rumble, something fishy

If I remember correctly, the video for the GLC43 sounded similar.

Looks like a C class, in fact, I really can't tell them apart. I'd be pissed if I was a E class owner..

I completely agree.. this new E really is a stretched C and I think E buyers should get something more distinctive. Now that the CLA is here the C will ascend to the level previously held by the E (IMO) which will make the E more aspirational ($$$). That said this car, (I've not seen it live) lacks the distinctiveness of previous versions especially the W124 which was the pinnacle of MB engineering and the last of the "cost is no object" engineered Mercedes Benz. Is there REALLY any difference between this car and the Hyundai Genesis or the CTS? Seriously is there a difference and if so do they justify the costs? I suggest not especially with the buzzy 4 cyl and all the "drivers systems" that are added dont make it any more special. Finally, everything that one should expect on a luxury car, like a Mercedes is optional, leather, navigation, HID head lights, everything... I'm not impressed....

Well made points. What exactly was MB thinking? Both the C & E Class exteriors are virtually indistinguishable from each other.

Remember when the Boxter had the same headlights as the 911 and people couldn't tell them apart? Porsche quickly made some changes to differentiate them both. I guess MB will learn this lesson the hard way. Who the hell in MB thought that making both cars look the same was a great idea?

This thing just does not look that exciting to me. The original E55/E63 was so muscular and menacing and gorgeous. This thing is just...so...unimaginative. It does not stir the soul.
