Tesla Model S Saves Car Load Of Teens In 80 MPH Crash

Earlier this week, a 18-year old took her father’s Tesla Model S for a ride with 4 of her friends in Pullach, Germany. She was reportedly driving at an excessive speed and lost control in a turn. The vehicle jumped off-road “and flew 25 meters [82 ft] through the air” and crashed in a field at full speed before rolling over at least once.

It takes a lot of speed to flip a 5,000 lbs Model S with a low center of gravity, but fortunately and despite the severity of the crash, none of the 5 occupants in the Model S died.

The roof wasn't touched, so if it rolled it was airborne.

How on earth can you roll something with that low of a center of gravity? That kid must have been flying. Impressive that there were no fatalities. Serious injuries, yes. But any car would have had injuries in that sort of crash.

This article is a demo of how the media is so enchanted with Tesla. ANYTHING Tesla is subject to media hype.

On one hand I am thankful there were no fatalities, BUT modern cars meet modern safety standards. Tesla meets them therefore it is the modern standards not "superior" Tesla engineering that should get the credit.

A similarly priced Mercedes would likely have done as well...

Highly doubt that everyone would have survived in a Benz, the engine would kill at least the driver and front passenger.

You really must be on Tesla's payroll if you honestly think that Tesla has trumped Mercedes on crash safety.

With the front and back crumple, it must have gone head over tail. Still impressive protection that should impress the Germans.
