Porsche Pulls Back The Covers On New 542 HP 4 Liter V8
Porsche unveils a new twin-turbocharged V-8 direct-injection gasoline engine set to power future incarnations of its Panamera Turbo and Cayenne Turbo.

Presented at the Vienna Motor Symposium, the 4.0L unit, which will migrate to other Volkswagen Group models from Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini, forms part of a range of new modular V-6 and V-8 gasoline engines jointly developed by Porsche and Audi.

Doesn't sound that impressive considering the old 4L V8 already makes 605hp in the Audi S8.

Must be really fuel efficient...

I was just thinking the same. After all, they have a 4.0l flat six that puts out 500...

My guess is that it's a base case and that engine is rated for something like 750bhp in tuned version while maintaining reliability.

Yep. It's called the 960. You have deposits on TVRs, I have deposits on 960GT and other like items... We get our kicks where we can.

I get about 15 track days per year - in the Northeast, that means per 6 mo - more if I can.
