Audi's April 2016 Global Sales Rise 7.5% Driven By China and U.S. Demand - YTD Sales Up 4.9%
AUDI AG has started the second quarter with further growth. In April, worldwide deliveries climbed by 7.5 percent year on year to around 164,350 automobiles. The four ring’s two largest markets China (+9.4%) and Germany (+12.4%) reported substantial growth rates. Globally, cumulative sales since January were up 4.9 percent on the corresponding period of 2015 at around 620,100 units. This was the first time ever in the Company’s history that over 600,000 customers had chosen an Audi in the opening four month period.

“The result for April demonstrates that we have been successfully launching our model initiative in an increasing number of markets,” says Dietmar Voggenreiter, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at AUDI AG. “We continued to increase sales in all of our core regions which reflects the sound balance of our business. In China, the trend is positive; in the United States and Europe, Audi has been growing faster than the market since the start of the year.”

Audi outsold Mercedes-Benz globally for the month.

Despite selling 50% less cars than Mercedes-Benz in the U.S, Audi for the past 3 years outsold Mercedes-Benz globally.

Your hangups over the U.S. market are overrated.

@GermanNut My reference was the USA and your post shows (1) you to be an idiot for making a spurious argument and (2) that you're a teenager who self pleasures to Audi R8 posters in his room.

Audi = German Buick

How does it feel to see BMW get knocked from first place both in the U.S. sales race as well as the global sales race?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. The USA is not the World, although many people seem to think otherwise.
This article is referring to global sales wasn't it?
M-B = 647,550
Audi = 620,100
BMW = ??
If you look at the April numbers globally, both companies are very close.
M-B = 164,063
Audi = 164,350

Audi introduced two brand new models this year, while Mercedes introduced one and BMW none. One would expect a bit of momentum for Audi in that situation. However, they weren't able to create much separation from Mercedes last month so maybe that's a bit of a worrisome sign for the brand. Then again, the A4 hasn't picked up full steam, yet. Mercedes has yet to officially roll out the new C-Coupe and E-Class to dealerships and both will be volume drivers. BMW, on the other hand, has no new products forthcoming, so they may be in jeopardy of slipping behind.
