Will The Chevrolet Bolt Be Able To Gain Any Traction Before The Tesla Model 3 Hits The Road?
According to Karl Brauer, a Kelley Blue Book analyst, Chevy will be able to sell between 30,000 and 80,000 units in the Bolt's first year. This is nowhere near the amount of orders that Tesla has on the Model 3, but you never know. Production delays have been a problem for Tesla and could plague Model 3s. The Bolt will be available for $37,000, plus a $7,000 federal incentive, and has a 200 mile range, which can only be matched by much more expensive models from Tesla. The Bolt needs to take advantage of its time alone on the market, but it could be pretty successful for Chevy.

With regards to your question "... gain any traction....", ure, I think so. Will it be as high as the number in the article, who knows, but GM will definitely be able to sell some.

Since I don't expect the Model 3 to get into mass production until at least 2018 - and maybe 2019 - GM will have a couple of years or more- and AUDI and Nissan and BMW - will also get into the act by then. Assuming California makes good on its EV requirements - the Bolt should sell quite well there - although with low oil prices - the only other place I would expect the volt to sell well in would be the Netherlands

Is there really any comparison between the two cars other than they are both electric? The Model 3 is a nicely designed car. The Chevy Bolt is an over-priced, goofy-looking Asian knock-off. No comparison—they're in two different leagues.

Well, so is the Leaf but Nissan managed to sell quite a few worldwide because they intended to. Not sure GM does with the Bolt EV.
