Ford Ranger And Bronco To Return In 2019 - Are They Too Late To The Party?
Only yesterday I wrote a bit about how Ford messed up big time when it opted to kill the Ranger in the US a few years back in favor of the borderline gorilla-sized F-150 lineup. Why wouldn’t all Ranger owners not want a truck that’s a) out of their budgets and b) too big to fit in their lawnmower and out of season patio furniture-filled garages? Well, they didn’t and GM, Toyota, and now Honda have welcomed them with open arms. Ford has gotten the message and, according to Car and Driver, the Ranger will return to the US sometime in 2019.

To directly answer your question - NO - they actually were early to the party - left in the USA (Ford mid size trucks sell all over the world otherwise) for a while - and are coming back now that the size and prices for full size pick-ups have gotten way out of hand.

The question is - will GM then offer a single seat version of their mid-size pick up - all of theirs are extended cabs of some sort.

who gives a damn! I'm a Tacoma owner...and if you want a vehicle that will get you there and back. There is no other! NOTHING LOOKS AS GOOD AS A OLD TOYOTA PICKUP TRUCK WITH BATTLE WOUNDS.

Late to the party - yes
Lost sales - yes
and as TomM said - "and are coming back now that the size and prices for full size pick-ups have gotten way out of hand."

Ford is not late to the "party", but they did leave early and want back in now that the "cool kids" showed up.

Lost sales, you bet! People buy used Rangers like firearms when a Democrat gets elected. I'm pretty Ford would still rather sell you a F150 over any potential Ranger.

Why don't we get the "Mexican" global Ranger here? I think its a really nice compact truck.

I hope in the interim a massive restyling will happen.

Smaller pickups will be a growing field, so getting here in 2 model years is no big deal really. Some 2017s are on the lots as we speak, so 2019 isn't a terrible wait.

Bring back the Bronco and let ConYey West complete the "chase" that OJ Simpson didn't.

I'll believe all this when Ford makes an official announcement. So far neither the Ranger nor the Bronco is listed on their Future Vehicles page.
