SPIED: BEST Photos Yet Of The Next-Gen Porsche Cayenne's INTERIOR — You Better Like BIG Screens And Using Your Fingers!
It wasn't too long ago that some excellent spy work showed of the next-gen Porsche Panamera's interior. We've been wondering what Porsche would do for the next-gen Panny and it's quickly become known.

The company's button-centric interiors will be going the way of the dinosaurs soon.

That's because it's clear the Stuttgart-based brand will be moving in the direction of Tesla. Well, not quite that extreme, but you'll see. BIG infotainment screens are in and Porsche is joining the club.

First seen in the Panamera mule and now in the Cayenne mule are massive infotainment screens that appears to be touch sensitive — check out the iconography on the user interface. While we assume the screens will be where much of the interaction happens, you can clearly make out a slew of buttons that now live on the center console. From what we can see, they appear to be touch sensitive as well — we're guessing tactile feedback will now be replaced with haptic feedback.

HVAC, seat heating/cooling, stability control and more switches will reside here. In addition, you'll note the all-new shifter, which is rumored to control an all-new, eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Are YOU digging this all-new move by Porsche? Would you rather have the buttons?

I couldn't handle the constant fingerprints and smudges. It's the same reason I get so turned off from Cadillacs console.

I don't consider myself a clean freak but I share your opinion about fingerprints and smudges. Conventional knobs do the job as well or better than the TV screen dashboards.

Using a touch screen or some kind of mouse to run everything leads to distracted driving. If one has to take their eyes off the road to change something it becomes a distraction. An design that mixes buttons, knobs and computer controls depending on the action taken is the safest. The U Connect system in my Jeep is extremely well done, with steering controls for phone, automatic cruise, and entertainment coupled with dash knobs and buttons for entertainment and HVAC so you sense of touch lets you do the jobs. Everything is also touch screen controllable if that's how you want to do it, but for me it is a huge distraction to go that way.

When are the Germans going to stop making the screen look like an aftermarket add on pasted on to the dash? Its not like someone is going to trot down to PEP Boys and upgrade to some new one while they own the car.

Great comments but we're living in the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) days.

Buyers want the screens and interfaces to resemble what they use everyday.

@Agent00R A segment of the buyers do want that feature, but not all of them. There are still a lot of the boomers and GenX who prefer being able to make adjustments without taking their eyes off the road. Of those that do want it, are they the same people who walk down the sidewalk looking at their cell phones to do "manage" what they are doing and bump into posts or cross in front of cars. The issue is you have to LOOK AT THE SCREEN AND NOT AT THE ROAD to do anything. You are from NJ. When I got my first license there you failed if you took your eyes of the road. Bet that still applies.

I agreed with Vette71. Glass cockpit is wonderful to look at when you just get in the car, but I like being able to change settings while keeping my eyes on the road. Be it steering wheel controls or knowing the feel of a knob or switch. Newer is not always better.
