VIDEO: DRAG RACE! BMW M2 vs. BMW E90 M3 — WHO Takes The "W?"

If you've been in the market for a BMW M car, then you've probably come across the all-new M2. Of course, there's just one big problem. Everyone is talking about it, BMW is promoting the hell out of it but it's impossible to find one to drive.

Yes, this sucks.

That said, there is something that's very enticing. That would be the E90 and E92 M3s. While I am not a fan of the V8 powerplant, a lot of people are. It's easy to see why. It's the only V8 M3 and it sounds raw. The good news is you can find a very clean E90/E92 at a good price these days.

More cost effective than the all-new M2. Or, is it?

Some folks put together the BMW M2 and BMW M3 together for a race. From what I understand the M3 has some mods on it but the M2 is mostly stock. See what happens when the race kicks off, below.

It doesn't look like a drag race at all, but rather the M3 guy shooting video of the M2 guy.

Kind of a funky race from moderate speed. Would have been far more revealing if begun from a standing start.

However, from the video evidence, the two car are virtually tied from the running start race. This demonstrates how dead weight offsets power.

It's also pretty hard to tell if they were actually racing, just having fun, or both. To me it looks like they were simply playing. It looked like a hell of a lot of fun.

From a dead stop, the M2 should prevail--maybe not trounce--over the M3.

I truly wish the 2 Series was a fastback coupe, because then I'd probably warm to it.
