Can The New F-Pace Be The Vehicle That Finally Saves The Jaguar Brand?

The F-Pace appears to be the vehicle that will save Jaguar.

The template for how Jaguar created the F-Pace, a midsize, five-passenger, high-performance utility, comes straight out of Porsche’s playbook. Think of the F-Pace as Jaguar’s take on the Porsche Cayenne and Macan.

Press the start button and the exhaust growls, like a Jaguar should. Hammer the accelerator and the engine emits a lovely howl, like a Jaguar should. The chassis is stiff, and the aluminum-intensive F-Pace feels light on its tires. Its taillights are almost identical to those on the F-Type sports car.

Although the name is subject to ridicule, everything else about the F-Pace is right. For $50K you get a handsome and well equipped supercharged V6 35t with very good performance. Reliability of Jaguar in general has not been stellar, but based on my experience owning a 2006 XJ VDP for 10 years, I'd say it's on par or slightly better than MB, and much better than BMW. I'd had worse records with these cars before the Jag.
With the red hot market for crossover SUV and good offering in the F-Pace, I think it will be a success for Jaguar. If I were in the market for an SUV, I would not hesitate to buy one.

Actually - Jaguar has improved reliability for the first three years quite a bit. Since most Leases are in that range - this is a good thing for the F-Pace. I myself would wait a year since this is Jaguars first SUV - but I doubt most people will care and this is going to sell like hotcakes - especially in Europe. I have driven a few new Jaguars this year - and have been impressed with the total package - especially the XE. Noting that they don't have to sell huge numbers to be a success - they might outsell the rest of the offerings combined!.

Oh Tommy. Yes Jaguar has improved, BUT SO HASE EVERYONE ELSE and that leave Jag You Are as unreliable as ever. You really need to access industry statistics before bloviating.

Jaguar is propped up by Land Rover's profits pure and simple.

@HoustonMidtown If you saw the business back end of a Jaguar franchise you would see what hell looks like. Jaguar and quality are not synonymous and even the new ones are in all the time for unscheduled warranty work. You can't give the damned things away, but it you do, they will be back again, again, and again. Now factor in angry customers who have dropped big money on what amounts to an automotive money pit...

The F-Pace is going to do great! Its exactly the right size and its exactly the right price. It may even sell at sticker, which will be a first for a recent Jaguar I'd imagine.

I've not driven it, but I sat in it at the auto show and its quite a good package.

Why would anyone wait 6 months to get screwed?

this is the best looking SUV soon to be on the road. Can't wait to see it. I want one a little smaller too for people who don't want size and have less $ to spend

Simple answer...yes, yes, yes. I have been impressed by the F-Pace since I first saw it. I've never driven or owned a Jaguar but this has to be the nicest looking SUV I've seen in a long time. I am planning to test drive one. My only question/concern is the 2nd row room.
