New Top Gear Series Bombs In The Ratings - Did You Even Bother To Watch?

Top Gear returned to our screens with Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc at the helm- but fans of the show turned off as it attracted its lowest opening show viewing figures in a decade and was widely panned on social media.

The show drew 4.4 million viewers, with a peak of 4.7 million, while the last series with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May bowed out with 5.8 million viewers.

Evans said last week he would be ‘disappointed’ if the show attracted under 5 million viewers.

No and evidently I wasn't alone in not watching.

No Hammond/Clarkson/May. No peace. Know Hammond/Clarkson/May. Know peace.

I watched and it was a disaster. No chemistry and witty British humor. Has me questioning what is worse: History Channel American Top Gear or BBC British Top Gear. Sadly, I'm not sure.

All the internet gangsters have been sending hate tweets to the wrong Chris Evans (the actor) instead of the TG Chris Evans

Well-I would not call it a disaster. The show is different and it takes a while for personnel to get used to each other. Chris Evans may be a popular radio DG in Britain but he is a bit high strung and shouty on TV. Matt Leblanc is smooth and sauvé however. The format also is a bit weird how they interview guests. It appears to be more like a constest rather than a proper interview. No what is missing is the classic banter between Clarkson, Hammond, and May but then Leblanc is not British. perhaps that will creep back in as the cohosts are more comfortable with each other. What is also a bit weird is After Gear. Why is it necessary in the first place? Chris Harris is being a bit wasted I think. All this used to be incorporated into the original Top Gear The new test track is cool with the off road sections added and the Mini is a step up. Lets see how things improve before we write the show off.
