Will BMW Or Audi Rise To Challenge Mercedes In The Pickup Market?
While Mercedes' pickup truck has already been confirmed, its Munich archival BMW hasn't followed suit - at least not yet.

The X-Class is a tentative name, since there is no official word on what badge the Navara NP300-based truck will be called (some have suggested GLT), but we do know that it will mark a first for the German automaker. If Merc is going down that way and is successful, them maybe BMW (or Audi) could consider a rival.

I don't like the chop at all. Audi could bolt 4 rings onto an Amarok and send it to the USA. BMW on the other hand has access to the truly great Tacoma should it decide to badge engineer a pickup like Mercedes is doing with the Nissan.

Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Mercedes is going to sell some of these vehicles. Cadillac should reevaluate their options and use the Silverado platform but dramatically change it. It should be extremely desirable and luxurious. Perhaps aluminum cab, coil/air suspension and zero shared body panels. BMW and Audi I doubt will enter this space...

such insanity but then they probably said that about the first SUV or crossover

True, but Mercedes rebadging a Nissan Navara is a bit lazy.

Premium-priced pickups already exist at GM, Ford, and Ram. We have several fully outfitted Rams as transporters and they are posh.

Paying $50K and higher for a pickup happens every day. Some might be given pause at spending $75K on a pickup, but it happens readily.

I just can't see spending Mercedes prices for a Nissan Navara, however.
