BMW To Refocus i Division On Self Driving Technologies For Right Now

If you're a true supporter of electric cars and not just a Tesla fanboy, then you'd really root for all manufacturers to come up with decent EVs that will slowly (or not) take over the market. However, this dream some might have seems a long way from becoming reality, and this latest report from BMW has just put another nail in its coffin.

A few years back, BMW was one of the most promising traditional manufacturers with plans for a completely new range dedicated to electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles that would use pioneering materials and bold design. Well, two i models later, both of these characteristics prove do be true, but it didn't help the i8 and i3 take off.

The I3 is a terrible design: small, cramped, and ugly. The i8 is garish and Mitsubishi Eclipse looking. Had either been attractive, they would have sold better. The Tesla sells so well because everyone loves the look of the Fusion.

Maybe BMW should focus on making an "i" vehicle that isn't an eyesore. These clownmobiles have me shaking my head in disbelief every time I see one on the road. THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE SO FU*KING UGLY BMW—we get it already!

Eye agree, they both could use a cleaner design. I finally did take a test drive of the eye3 and actually enjoyed it from the inside. Handles well, quick steering, accelerates really quick up to about 30-35mph and an ok interior. They should have made the ip more programable with options on how you want the information on speed etc… to be displayed. The exterior though is a mess. I have a daughter who currently drives an Audi TT 6sp. She is very environmentally conscious and has been bugging me really hard to get an electric car and an automatic, but even she said no thanx to the eye3 due to the exterior design.
