TEASED! Wagon Fans, Rejoice! The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon Is Set For A MONDAY Debut
One vehicle that made a significant splash at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) was the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. There's a reason why: Mercedes sells a buttload of the mid-size luxury sedan and also it is equipped with the latest and greatest technology from the three-pointed star.

If wagon fans have been a bit sullen lately that all they've been seeing in the market are large sport-utility vehicles debuting, they'd be right. Wagons just aren't what they use to be.

That doesn't mean that auto manufacturers are going to completely cease production though. Well, some are. Companies like Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo are hanging in there with wagon production.

The latest to join the mix will be the E-Class wagon or as our friends abroad like to say, Estate.

Expect it to feature the same motors, technology and everything the E-Class sedan has in it. Of course, the real feature here is the added utility that comes with having a wagon.

Predictably, we're pretty jacked up about the all-new Mercedes-AMG E63 wagon that we've seen during developmental testing.

This is entirely about incremental sales. This is for the Mercedes E Class buyer who wants space for carrying dogs and bicycles--impractical in a sedan--but does not want the SUVness of the GLE. This will not be a stunning seller but it will cover a gap. Developing the wagon from the sedan probably cost Mercedes $1.49 so it's not much of an economic risk.
