To Build Or NOT To Build, That Is The Question — Bentley THINKING About Doing A Compact Coupe/Roadster

To Build Or NOT To Build, That Is The Question — Bentley THINKING About Doing A Compact Coupe/Roadster
Not too long ago our friends at Bentley displayed a very interesting concept called the EXP 10 Speed 6. The concept vehicle was painted a gorgeous deep shade of green and its interior was delightful.

One thing struck me as odd, however. It was a two seater, had doors that angled upwards a la Aston Martin and only had luggage in the trunk.

This means there's only two possibilities here: This was a preview of the future Continental GT, or Bentley was considering going after the two seater sports car market. That would include cars like the Jaguar F-Type, Mercedes-AMG GT, Porsche 911, BMW M6, etc.

While I spoke with a Bentley spokesperson at the time who said it would slot in under the Continental, I wasn't so sure. Now it sounds like they were giving me the right information — not always the case in the auto world.

That said, the latest word on the street regarding the EXP 10 Speed 6 is that the Flying "B" is wrapping up work on the concept vehicle and that the company will come to a decision relatively soon. Fun fact: Bentley's CEO noted it would also ship as a Roadster should it get the green light.

Sounds good to us!

"We are readying the concept for a decision," said CEO Wolfgang Duerheimer. "It would come as a two-door coupe, but a roadster is possible as well, and it would be launched after the next Continental."

That would be the economically smart move. Bring it on :) A bentley hothatch may be what the doctor ordered.

A Bentley "Panamera" coupesedan and coupe under the Continental/Flying Spur would make sense.
