Mercedes won't sell small car in U.S.

There isn't a huge demand for a 25k hatchback here, actually there is barely any demand at all. Hell if Toyota can't sell one for 13k, can MB sell one for double the price?

On side note: One day I did see the MB B-class on the road here, sometime ago. I thought that they were doing testing to bring it here, but it was just a Hydrogen vehicle.

There is demand for a $25k hatchback. The Mini has proven that. So has the Audi A3.

Mercedes is leaving money on the table here because they don't want to anger their dealer network here that is against these cars.

There is demand, definitely. Small is where it's all going for upscale urbanites. But MB dealers don't want to sell them and downscale their image.

I wouldn't recommend that they bring the A and B over anyway. They'll just rob sales from the C-Class and won't do wonders for the image of the company. MB in the US stands for power and prestige - something which the A and B-Classes lack (power especially). They'll just cheapen the image of the brand here.

On a side not, I do like the B-Class. Saw them in Europe and they're quite good-looking IMO.

It won't sell because it looks like the R-Class, which I'm surprised can sell.

Yes good move for Mercedes we don't need cheap a-class b-class, or BMW 1 series. Even though Audi sells the cheap rebadged VW Golf/ A3, Audi is a lesser second tier luxury brand like Saab, Buick, and Volvo.

It blows my mind that people buy C-class cars. They are simply, some of the most unimpressive cars in the near lux segment.

It cheapens the brand because the car is cheap. On the hand the A3 is high quality and feels like its more expensive siblings. That is the difference why MB doesn't sell a small car here.

You're right. Remember on a certain article, you told me that European buyers wouldn't even consider a Lexus for a luxury car because they aren't known over there? And then remember when I told you that European buyers wouldn't consider a Mercedes because they aren't known as luxury cars in other countries? Are you saying I'm right?

huu76: What Toyota only has one hatch??? Do you know what a Scion Xa is??? It hasn't sold well since day one and has been behind the shadows of the Xb since introduction. The Yaris isn't 13k it is about 11k. See you don't even remember that there is an Xa, thus reinforcing my point. Good job.

And the yaris does sell well in the US too, but theres more sedans on the road versus hatchbacks.
