Could The Upcoming Ford Fusion Sport Sway You From The German Trifecta?
It is no secret that we are excited for the upcoming Ford Fusion Sport. With all of the hype surrounding the Focus RS, we don't think that the Fusion Sport is getting the attention that it deserves. It will come with a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 with 325 horsepower and AWD, so performance won't be an issue. The car is set to arrive in dealerships in the late summer, and now Ford has sent us some extra details about the car that makes it even better. As it turns out, the car won't come with 350 lb-ft of torque.

So Ford wants this to be a 4-door Mustang, like the Camaro is a 4-seat Corvette. Actually, not a bad proposition, especially with AWD.

And is Ford just sabotaging its Lincoln MKZ?

The MKZ get 400 horsepower...public knowledge.

I don't know how well the Fusion Sport will sell. Had they called it Shelby Fusion, then there might be a pulse.

Right, but the MKZ is also close to 500lbs heavier and over $10G more expensive.

@cidflekken #irrelevant

The Fusion Sport will be much heavier than a Fusion, so what's your point?

In theory you can option an MKZ up to $60K, but on the lot, you'd be hard pressed to find much past $50K.

Lincoln is not substantially increasing prices. In fact, they will be lower for 2017 when comparably equipped to the 2016.

The 400hp Ecoboost AWD is intended to be value priced i.e. base is $43K. Add some options and you be quite happy for $50K

Really? You don't see the point? You're so precious, Darringer. So, so, precious.

@cidflekken if you want a pissing match, bring it because I'm 10 miles beyond your ass intellectually. Bring it, sub!

Don't worry cidflekken, by his juvenile response you have already intellectually embarrassed our Matt the local moron. Matt is a high school drop and doesn't understand the dynamics of the car buying consumer and the car market. He just a Capuchin with a keyboard who has nothing else in life to live for. I've already kicked his ass to the curb so many times that it is starting to bore me.

@Terry989 you should be thankful your unmarried parents gave you a girl's name so that you can now transition on the taxpayer dime. I have a PhD and you have shit. This is why you snipe and do your passive aggressive ghetto shit.

You're too unintelligent for words.

What a delusional idiot. You have no PhD. Let's see, your are the son of a drug using prostitute coupled with a worthless father that died of aids - - - and you don't think you damage genes? We believe you have a PhD as much as your other story that you are a born again Catholic. Let's see, the seven deadly sins:
Lust - Describes Matt
Gluttony - Describes Matt
Greed - Describes Matt
Sloth - Describes Matt
Wrath - Describes Matt
Envy - Describes Matt
Pride - Describes Matt

The only thing Catholic about you is your love for alter boys and the only thing you know about the car business is what you read in the paper.

GT350 and its variants define Ford's commitment to making better cars. If I had $60K for a fun third car to keep as an instant classic for my future grandchildren, it would be the GT350.

Getting nicer and nicer but Camry will continue to sell more, Accord be the best all-around package, and Mazda 6 the coolest in that segment.

Do an Escape version of this and they might have something. A muscle crossover priced below the competition in the segment.

As far as competing with the Germans this thing is still a "Ford", so it won't have the lux features and feeling that the Germans offer. A Lincoln version might, but the business case would be tough.

Agree.

The Lincoln version of the Fusion Sport is the MKZ AWD turbo with 400hp.

Getting the Ford version of the powerplant into the Edge and the Lincoln version into the MKX would be easy money made.

The Fusion Sport exists partially to amortize the 400hp MKZ AWD and the version slated for the Continental.

As the Continental suggests, competing with the Germans is stupid when you can be a distinctly American alternative and have good sales. The Continental looks like a hit with pre-arrival interest.

Looks like a very good value proposition for a $40k sports sedan. Only a driven review will tell, but if it retain's Ford of Europe's driving dynamics for the Mondeo, it should be very good.

I've driven the 400hp MKZ AWD at the track and it's sensational.
