Bentley To Steam Roll The Competition With 2020 Barnato Sportscar

Bentley’s upcoming sports car, based on the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept, could be called Barnato when it arrives within the next three years. Auto Express can reveal a trademark for the Barnato name was filed two years ago, along with Bentayga.

The name Barnato makes reference to former Bentley chairman and three-time Bentley Le Mans 24 Hours winner Woolf Barnato, who competed in the race in 1928, 1929 and 1930. Barnato was known as one of the ‘Bentley Boys’ and remains one of few drivers to win every race entered at Le Mans.

I hope someone convinces them that a name that starts with "barn" is unlikely to be considered upscale in this country.

You can tell it's a VW product because VW loves utterly stupid names and here we go.

Anyone purchasing a Bentley "sportscar" is like a 400 pound fat slob walking a long on an ocean boardwalk wearing a pair of Speedos. Not a pretty picture and you know the jerk is about to pass gas as well.

Are you saying Bentley customers are ugly or are you saying Bentleys are flabby barges or both?

Skytop you are way off base. Bentley owners include Kobe Bryant, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ice T, Simon Cowell, Jay Leno, Fabulous, Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard, Robert Downey, Jr., Mark Wahlberg, David Beckham, Jay Z,
Sylvestor Stallone and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. None of them fit your description and all of them can kick your vulgar, skinny ass!

Joel Woolf Barnato (27 September 1895 – 27 July 1948) was a British financier and racing driver, one of the "Bentley Boys" of the 1920s. He achieved three consecutive wins out of three entries in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

But just because he did that does not make his name ideal for a car. The "barn" part of his name is what makes it off putting. But Bentley did the Bentiguan so I guess graceful names like Flying Spur are out and utterly stupid ones are in.

I would have to agree with MDarringer. With all due respect to Mr. Barnato, the name makes no sense commercially. In spanish it sounds like "cheap", and in english is too close to Barnacle..... so what's the harm in exploring other options? People is already complaining about the SUV's name...

Brings new meaning and further elevates a "barn" find!

The loudest criticisms always come from those who will probably never own a Bentley.

And criticisms like that come from people who cannot aspire to anything beyond a Chrysler 200.

People buy Bentleys because of "Bentley" not the vehicles name. They could make a Bentley Flying Aztek or a Bentley Town Car and it would still sell. The model name is irrelevant, but come on Bengay and Barato?
