TEASED! Mercedes-AMG Shows Us Just A Little Bit Of What The GT R Is ALL About — A Lean, Green Machine
With Porsche and Jaguar releasing super limited and track-going variants of their highly successful 911 and F-Type coupes, it only makes sense that Mercedes-AMG would follow suit. But, boy, it's taken a long time.

We've been watching the Mecedes-AMG GT R undergoing development for at least a couple years now. Turns out we're finally going to get to see it at this year's Goodwood event in the UK.

This teaser clip keeps much of it in the dark; however, we're seeing a few different things that stand out.

1) Fixed rear spoiler
2) Larger front valence with air intakes and front splitter
3) Carbon fiber here, there, everywhere
4) All-new carbon fiber seating

As of now no real information has been released but rumors are swirling. According to sources, the GT R will make about 570 horsepower and get a 70 lb.-ft. boost in torque. In addition, a Black Series and AMG GT Roadster are on the way.

There's only one real GT-R and it's made by Nissan.

yes, that's why this is a GT R and Nissan's is a GT-R.

My point was, MB-AMG should have called it something else because calling it a GT R is only an embarrassment to itself. Regardless of spelling, when people hear GT R they only think one thing and you pretty well know what that is.

Perhaps there is only one GTR, but the Mercedes will be (1) far better engineered, (2) its drivetrain will not experience premature failure, and (3) you won't be able to feel the software intervening as is readily apparent on the Nissan.

But then again, we must cut Nissan some slack. Their experience is in making crap boxes like the Versa.

Yes, I understood your point. I'm just being a smart ass.

MDarringer—couldn't have said it better myself. Nicely put.

How about MB use some of this mythical engineering magic and actually build something that can touch a GT-R?

I love the silverstar and they can do no wrong in my eyes, but this name has me giving the confused puppy look.
