Porsche Ready To Mop Up Tesla With Mission E - But At What Price?
Porsche’s first electric model was announced through a concept called Mission E. In an interview with Automobile Magazine, an unnamed Porsche employee revealed that the car will be “
a genuine Porsche through and through.
”
In other words, the first electric Porsche will drive and handle just as good as the other models in the range, and this is a priority for its development team.
At the same time, Porsche wants to make a car that will be completely different from its competitors. At this point, Tesla is the only electric car manufacturer that has cars with comparable performance with Porsche’s future product.

Good title "Porsche ready to mop up Tesla". Merriam-Webster definition of "mop up": the actions that complete a job or task after the more difficult parts have been done
Emphasis on "the more difficult parts have been done".
As a Porsche car owner, I am excited and want to see the Mission E coming out soon. On the other hand, I am disappointed they don't aim higher since current Tesla S already beats the E's performance goals by a mile. I understand Porsche doesn't want the E to encroach the 918's territory, much the same way the Cayman vs 911, so I guess the E will fulfill its "mop up" mission and future E owners will be just elated to settle for second best.

Porsche is going about this completely wrong.
They should launch a 3-series sized all-electric, mini-panamera, 4 door, priced at $50,000 to be their loss-leader. The components are all out there, right off the shelf. Porsche can even add a "schnell" mode - just like Ludicrous, but German.
Such a vehicle would suck the oxygen out of the Model 3 and Model S sales - plus it would be well-built and the tires/rims can be fixed and the AC recharged at a Porsche dealer, without sitting on a flatbed for a 300 mile round-trip to a "Tesla-Center". Porsche can even shamelessly base it on the A3/GTI platform in AWD form.

...or Porsche can put all the electric motor componentry in the rear and make it oversteer like a 1987 911 Turbo.

If shutting up Musk once and for all is the goal, then the Mission E needs to match the Tesla S for size and price. If it costs more, then moron Musk will crow that even Porsche can't equal Tesla.

It's Porsche so there will be ultra premium pricing. Higher than the Panamera, so as not to encroach on Panamera sales. We know the Panamera is very similarly priced with the Model S. It will also be interesting to see how it stacks up against 911 Turbo numbers as the Tesla P90D runs damn near neck and neck with it up til about 80, which is as fast as most Porsche drivers are gonna push their 150k babies.

Styling looks like a 911 fattened-up like a Thanksgiving turkey complete with extra large drumsticks.

Not sure how this is going to "mop up" Tesla since it's going to be so astronomically high, it won't even be in the same playing field as Tesla.

You are not going to be able to get one of these out the dealer door for anything less than $150k. A more optioned up "Performance" model will set you back over $200,000. How is this going to "mop up" Tesla? Ridiculous click-bait article.

I for one thinks that Electric cars is a totally different playground. What you could do with ICE engines and transmission are completely different than electric cars. I doubt that Porsche can demand similar pricing on their electric car "Because it is a Porsche". They have to prove that they can do what Tesla can do and more.
The bar has been raised quite high by Tesla and Porsche needs to beat it to demand the high price.
